I was thinking the other day( yeah, I know, it surprised me too) about lucid dreaming and dreaming in general, and kinda came up with something. Could a lucid dream, just be a dream in itself? A tip in trying to lucid dream, is to ask yourself on a regular basis, " Is this real or am I dreaming right now?" . When i think about something or am exited enough about something in my lfe, it generally means i am thinking about it all the time( or alot of time), and most the time I will have a dream on that thing, I am thinking about, around the time I am most exited or happy with it( whatever it may be: Person ,place, people, things,,,,anything). I am saying if someone wants to lucid dream bad enough, they will prolly be thinking about it and use the question" is this a dream or reality?" very often, wich would create a dream, based on lucid dreaming, so in effect you would be having a dream about being able to lucid dream, and therfore, might make it seem like you are actualy having this lucid dream when you have waken up. Is this making any sence???? Well I'm not trying to "Debunk" lucid dreaming at all. I think its a great posibility, Anyway , your thoughts and comments are welcome as always. What do u think????

That was confusing.. Are you basicly implying that we can have a lucid dream without knowing its a lucid dream? Like have a lucid dream but wake up and think you're awake but still be dreaming? In that case it would not a lucid dream because the whole sense of lucid dreaming is knowing you're dreaming and taking advantage of that knowledge. (exploring the sub-conscious).

actually i think that is a lucid dream. we already control our dreams, so whats the difference between controlling a dream and dreaming you are controlling a dream. it is interpreted the same way since thats all it is, a dream. also since dreaming about lucid dreaming will allow you to control the lucid dream in your dream, you are lucid dreaming so you have accomplished your motive, or so you think. but what does it matter to distinguish the two. it is still a dream, as oppose to distinguishing the difference between reality and dreaming. the two have different parameters where as dreams (as oppose to dreams) do not.

But a lucid dream, as I understand it, is when we achieve a waking-like consciousness while still in the sub-conscious world of sleep. I think I may have had dreams like AnimalChin is talking about--where in the dream I realize I was dreaming, but then later, thinking back on it, I suspect I didn't actually achieve a waking consciousness, I only dreamed I did.
Like one time I realized I was dreaming, and so I thought, "Okay, I have to conjure something." So I reached behind my back and when I brought my hand around there was an apple in it. Then the rest of the dream slipped back into non-lucidity.
I had been thinking a lot about lucid dreaming at the time, but what really made me suspect the actual lucidity (as opposed to a dreamed-up lucidity) was why the hell did I conjure an apple? It just so happened that when it dawned on me that I was dreaming, I was with a girl, and we were jumping around on the tops of these posts. If my actual conscious self had awaken, wouldn't I choose to have sex with that girl over conjuring an apple??
Or am I that much of a loser...

I know what you mean, the thing is that there are degrees in how lucid you are in a dream, the first moment that you realize that you are dreaming, you can say that you are very lucid but if you don't constantly ask your self (this is a dream) you slip into a dream that you are lucid but not really, it is very tricky to hold on to consciousness. But on the other hand if you become to lucid you just wake up, I had the experience that I am so lucid that the dream world starts to crumble and disappear (that happens if you look at something to much) to stop it just shake your head in the dream and don't focus on anything. The state that you want to achieve is Lucid but not to lucid is a very fine line, and not that easy to master at least for me. But is a lot of fun.
