Seattle doesn't have the pitching to keep this up, I don't think. Detroit and Cleveland both have good staffs. A lot of people see the Braves winning the NL Wild card but I don't see it happening at all.

I like it, except I think the A's are going to go on their usual late-season streak and either win the West outright or get the Wild Card.

James and Davies, come on. Every other team in contention for the wild card (Cubs, Dodgers, is pretty much all I mean) actually has rotation to somewhat stand on, though the Dodgers lost Schmidt, sucks for them. But beyond Smoltz and Hudson I don't think the braves have a solid rotation, and even Hudson likely won't keep it up all season.

They (The Fucking Brewers) had a 10.5 game lead 2 weeks ago. It is now down to 5. I'm telling you, they are as good as done. The Cubs retooled their entire team during the off-season, and it took awhile for them to gel.

But we have good players and they are coming together. Soriano had 13 homers last month. Derek Lee is batting almost .400. Even Aramis seems motivated. If we can trade Jacque Jones for some bullpen help, we will be set.

We have had the best record in baseball for the last month.

Your pessimism in re: The Cubs is not appreciated.

And the BoSox will smoke the Angels, mark my words.

im thinking about getting NFL sunday ticket when season starts up, since i have sundays and mondays off work anyways.. itd be a nice little treat to myself.

this is really the first season ive "followed" MLB, like to the game. maturity i guess, i think as one grows older he gets more respect for baseball. its more of a gentlemens game.

I wasnt even into sports AT ALL until four years ago or so...now I love baseball and football so much, I spend way too much time reading about them...I'm loving the flood of NFL previews hitting ESPN and SI. Today they had a good article on ESPN that was split, one half about Thomas Jones and the jets, the other about Benson and the Bears.

Brewers Lead = 4.5 Games

Getting interesting, kids.

Zambrano is red hot. 5-1 in his last bunch of starts, w/ an ERA of 1.42. Tied for the NL Win lead right now at 10, going for 11 in about 20 minutes. If he understood the season started in April and not June, he might be going for #15 tonight. As it is, I'll take it. I wish he was signed long-term though. This is going to cost the Cubs a gang of cash.

Soriano had 13 homers in June. Derek Lee has the highest average in the league, but is inexplicably not hitting home runs, after blasting almost 60 two years ago. No, he's not on the juice. We're getting some amazing play from some young bench players.

And our bullpen is probably one of the best in the league.

I'm getting excited.

A little math for those of you who can add and subtract. Let me apologize beforehand to those of you from The Bronx and The South Side of Chicago. I'm told basic mathematics haven't quite been incorporated into the educational systems of either one of those shitholes yet.

Cubs Bullpen - (Ryan Dempster + Bob Howry + Rocky Cherry) + (Carlos Marmol + Billy Petrick) = INFINITE IMPROVEMENT.

Its a totally different bullpen. Ask anyone, its been written about ad nauseum in the Chicago Press. If you can't see the difference, you're either blind or a moron.

Or maybe a blind moron. But its pretty fucking obvious.

We were down 12.5 games 3 weeks ago because we COULDNT PITCH IN RELIEF.

Today, we're down 4.5 and we cant score a run to save our soul. I dont think we're winning on our good looks, because most of those guys are ugly as sin. Have you seen Darryl Ward lately?

Bottom line, I'm saying good things about them (The Bullpen) because they ARE good.

If they start to suck, I reserve the right to change my opinion.

Yeah, it's a good possibility that he would have been a Cardinal. Either way, he's my favorite pitcher and I am glad that he has stayed with my favorite team. I hope that he can remain as dominate as he has been this year and not revert to last year when he was absolutely horrible for most of the year. Was it you that had him on your fantasy team last year or was it Nashbar?

they dont know cause they dont watch.. of course i watch like almost every cubs game.. and yea, the bullpen has been fucking outstanding the past several weeks.. and thats with one of the best closers in the league (dempster) on the DL ... weve been winning all these games and getting a shit load of saves with a different closer almost every night... every guy down there has been getting the job done

The White Sox will have a good second half. Probably not good enough to do them any good, but they will play a lot better. They played the second half of the season last year with a record similar to what they have so far this year and they still ended up with 90 wins. They have to play right at .700 ball the rest of the year to get to 90 wins. It's possible, but I'm not holding my breath just yet.

even if they do get 90 wins.. it wont do any good.. the AL is too good.. theyll have to get like 99 wins just to get the wildcard probably

I am aware of that. I even said that in my own post. Last year they had 92 or 93 wins and missed the playoffs. But I do not believe that they will finish in the sewer as you suggested.

we'll see whether or not kenny has a fire sale... if he does, then i could easily see them being in the sewer...  i do watch alot of sox games too though.. so i do actualy know a good amount about em :wink: 

i dont have cable, so whenever baseball is on wgn/wciu i watch it... so i get to see like a little over 1/2 of the cubs season and 1/2 the sox season

Yeah, it is impossible to get Chicago's Comcast station up here in Cheeseland.

The cable company here has never even heard of it.

I offered to throw money at them, but no luck.

Luckily for me MLB tv doesn't black out White Sox or Cubs even though their website says that I am in the blackout range of both teams. It doesn't matter though because I have a dish and get CSN and WGN, but not WCIU.
