Naptha Alternatives

My friend wants to extract some DMT but has had no luck finding Naptha at the local hardware stores. His area has a problem with meth production, so I would guess its why no one carries it with their other paint thinners.
His question, what other hydrocarbons can be used for extraction?
He has a bottle of zippo fluid, its the new synthetic kind though. He used it for a salvia extraction a while back with decent results, it evaporates 100%
He can also get Xylene, which I have heard works fairly well.
Just looking for the best option though, thoughts?

Mineral Spirits maybe?
It won't evaporate as quickly as naptha though.
If the Zippo lighter fluid evaporates cleanly it might work, although I'd try not to use something synthetic.

"Naptha is a group of various liquid hydrocarbon intermediate refined products of varying boiling point ranges from 20 to 75 ºC (68 to 167 ºF), which may be derived from oil or from coal tar, and perhaps other primary sources."
The lighter fluid will work and so will camp fuel. Perhaps neither is as good of a choice as the store bought naphtha but they will work. I would assume you could substitute any number of non-polar solvents but I'm only familiar with naphtha in this capacity.
Ask the hardware store to order naphtha perhaps. It is a common and useful solvent there is no reason to deny your purchasing it. If they have gone so far as to restrict Naphtha in your area then I bet you can't find much in the way of other solvents either.
I've been places like that, ask for toluene and they look at you like you have two heads.

Why not just use this then? Is it Ronsonol?

No idea, he wasn't sure if it was safe. The can says "synthetic isoparrafinific hydrocarbon"

Mineral oils are a pretty shitty alternative as an organic solvent, it takes forever to settle and the bubbles that form when mixed are a pain. The densities and varieties of the different hydrocarbons present(there are both cyclic and acyclic) is too much.
You could use it, but id probably prefer to use toluene if naphtha was unavailable.

That just means the liquid is full of hydrocarbon isomers, it should be safe if it evaporates cleanly.

If your friend can get xylene better than "Technical Grade" then go for that, e.g. HPLC grade. It's much less toxic than toluene. And "synthetic isoparaffinic hydrocarbon" sounds ok to me as well.

Xylene is junk and stinks like mad.
Use ronsinol its the best, im sure you can find it at a truck stop or in a small hardware store.
