ID - ALL LAWN Yard Growing
    #7118805 - 07/02/07 01:25 PM (14 years, 3 months ago)

Habitat: All over grass yard, very rain season every morning, humid days. Must also mention lots of maple trees in yard, with 1 evergreen however; the ever green produces another which I will post soon.

Gills: Brown / Grey turn dark brown while becoming dry

Stem: not hollow, not big enough sample for good observation

Cap: Grey / brown / riping look, spots, not very constant

Spore print: Dark brown / black?

Bruising: No noticeable color changes from bruising.

Location: Picked in central Canada - hope this general location is allowed if not please edit moderator... southern MB. Reason I post this cause nobody reports anything for central Canada I find this odd.

Personal comments, these appear to be all the same mushrooms, however experts may inform me differently, as I am new still at id different species.

I also won't mind knowing if they are deadly for I have children I mostly am concerned about either to mow these off the yard or pick them for the cooking pot if you know what I mean.

Spec #2.

Habitat: Grass yard, growing where much mulch was put, directly under and evergreen, very probably a blue spruce.

Gills: hmm.... i am still newbie

Stem: not hollow, very fiberous maybe must recheck.

Cap: Rusty, Golden

Spore print: Orange very significant

Bruising: Maybe bruise brown

Location: Picked in central Canada

Personal comment, after handling dangerous mushrooms, can one transfer the poison? should I be using gloves, or washing frequently? Sorry for dum questions, but when you dealing with possibility of death, it's good to know.

Spec #3

Habitat: Grass yard, growing where a septic tank is leaking underground very spars growing

Gills: hmm.... i am still newbie, sorta brown orangy

Stem: very small very rubber

Cap: White / Yellow

Spore print: hard to get ....

Bruising: hard to id

Location: Picked in central Canada

characteristics: these seem to grow very tall out of the grass but are very delicate mushrooms.

so pan foes are active? I believe that's what I understand now... I also now find they are hollow stem, very difficult to analyze with their small nature.

How much chance is there a deadly growing around pan foes? I have also collected what I believe the only deadly growing in my yard to have a very white spore print.

Yes, #1 is Panaeolina foenisecii. #3 is Conocybe lactea. Neither are active. I am unsure about #2.

EXCELLENT! You guys are a great help!  I'll provide some better pictures of #2.

#2 is also a larger mushroom, and only growing under evergreen tree.  It's measure approx 2 - 3" as small as 1 inch.  I also have a spore print that I'll post soon.

Also 2 is very gilly, I'll get a underside picture, as I am about to go on another nature walk to discover more that grown in around my area.  I am wondering does 'not active' mean it won't kill me.  not active means what exactly, again sorry for the stupid question, I tend to not ask them twice as I commit them to memory.

Sounds like it might be a Cortinarius. Do you have a photo of the gills?

I am wondering does 'not active' mean it won't kill me.

No, not active means it's not psychoactive, it does not mean it is not poisonous.

i DID A BUNCH OF RESEARch into, no not caps lock, but foes, and nothing i read said that they were poisonous, infact one book said that they contain seratonin and sometomes trace amounts of psilocybin. This intrigued me so i expeimented a bit with them. I didn't catch a buzz, and i didn't get sick, and i got happy. Whether or not the happines was a placebo effect or not i can't say for certain, but they could possibly be a natural anti-depressant. Any thoughts from the more experienced and knowledgeable crowd?
