Found these around my yard,no clue what they are
    #7115150 - 07/01/07 02:10 PM (16 years, 8 months ago)

Hey, i'm new to this forum, i guess one of the reasons i joined is because i need help identifying mushrooms, but this looks like a pretty cool site, so i'll stick around for a while. I'll probably learn a lot since I dont know anything about mushrooms.
Anyway, I found these all around my yard, there must be a hundred of them, and they're the only type that grows in my yard.I don't know the first thing about mushrooms, so help would really be appreciated. Thanks!

well you took some nice pictures, but you didnt happen to read this at the top of the hunting forum did you?

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/5731447/an/0/page/0

you need to do a proper id for anyone to give you an accurate ID. although i can tell you theyre not worth anything. not active, and i doubt theyre edible either.

Sorry, made a quick edit there, it's kind of a habit of mine to not read forum rules. It sucks that they're worthless, I have about a hundred of these popping up every week. Oh well, it was my first hunt, I didn't really expect to find anything useful.

leftysurprise, you didn't note the color of the gills. There is a general resemblance between these mushrooms and Coprinellus (Coprinus), but the gill color should have told you they couldn't be. All of the inky caps will have white to gray to black gills. The somewhat rusty brownish color of these gills points more towards Conocybe, a very common lawn mushroom genus.

Happy mushrooming!
