Very nice. Picked those two at just the right time. Eat them immediately.
-------------------- My favorites are weeping willows, which aren't really weeping at all. They're very wispy, witty and will dance in the breeze with you. Nothing like a tree that wants to dance with you. Although it doesn't like its thin limbs being pulled at all, it absolutely LOVES it when you walk through them, letting them gently slide over your face and shoulders. If you're naked, the willow considers it to be sex. It will orgasm on your mind and you will blow dream chunks into outer space. All very fun until your neighbor sees you. -The Joekenorer

Here's our newest star, in his own habitat.
Pic of substrate right after collection
Sorry, this one's big... close up of substrate after I got it home.
UMBOS!
After I gave some away, I got home with these. Oh, plus the one in the substrate pics.
I didn't see any evidence of an outdoor grow project. Just compost/mulch that they have been putting down that has been sprouting lots of cubes. My friend's boyfriend also said he has seen lots of them sprouting in people's mulch on job sites (he's in construction). It's just the kind of mulch that we have here, I guess, that has lots of poo in it or something. I'm hoping I can find a pile to search at a nursery or landscaping company...

Spotted three more across the parking lot from my office today, growing in the mulch under some bushes.
Went over there with my boss (how cool is that?) and picked two of the three I spotted and saw several pins/young mushrooms poking out of the mulch, then found about ten more smaller ones under another bush. Took one of those... I left the rest there for now, but they were completely opened up, so I probably will get them tomorrow if they still look nice. Once the baby ones mature, they're mine.
These were in mulch miles away from the first ones I found. I need to get a load of this stuff delivered!

More cubes pin? or subbs?
That's amazing. I wonder if someone local to the area has been around spraying LC or litres of spore solution around?

Concerning cubes growing in mulch. How plausible would it be to to grow cubes straight out of mulch, not acting as a casing layer? I"m gonna be getting some spores, and I've found a good humid spot where alot of other mushrooms grow, and I was thinking of laying some mulch down and doing a LC from the spores and then injecting that mycelium into the mulch.

undergrounder: cubes. I doubt anyone sprayed anything. These guys making the mulch are using manure, which is most likely full of spores or myc, and mixing it up with wood chips, leaves etc. to make a nice earthy mix. We've just had soooo much rain lately, that they're popping up everywhere. I looked for subbs really quickly, but didn't see any right away, so I just left with the cubes.
psilocybin_qualm: yeah... let's see. I gave three to a friend recently, plus the three or four I gave away from a couple weeks ago... 27 in my drying chamber still (too lazy to put them up), and the three I collected today. I'd say about a pound... oh yeah, and I ate three. So, about 36 mushrooms.
And I didn't get the ten or so I saw under the bush. I might get them tomorrow.
rabidbaboon: if you were going to attempt that, I would at least try it with rye spawn. I don't think the mulch itself would contain enough poo in the right places that just innoculating it would work the way you're thinking. I'm pretty sure this stuff had spores or myc in the poo they mixed up with the wood chips and other ingredients, which spread it into nice little pockets of cube heaven.
Just my opinion, but feel free to try anything and let us know how it works out.
