Why is colonization taking so long?
    #710257 - 06/29/02 05:36 AM (21 years, 8 months ago)

Hey everybody!

My jars are finished colonizing now but im waiting another week to make sure it is all done, is this needed?

I have 6 Puerto Rican jars, which i heard are very fast colonizers. This is my first grow and it took 24 days to fully colonize! My temps were alyways between 80-86 F so whats the problem? I used the PF tek's substrate amounts so that cant be it.

Thanks for any help!
Fd

You're on schedule. Wait for pins unless you're gonna case.

When i wait 1 more week to make sure the core of the cake is colonized should i expect knotes or pins to start forming? Should i let a little light it so help with knot formation?

Thanks again

You should only have to give yourself and extra 3 days max to colonize the core.... if you make a 5th innoculation point in the center of your jars, the core will be colonized by the time the outside of your jar is. Then just give it 1 extra day.
It could save you a week of waiting time, especially if you use liquid culture.

Enjoy

So how long should i wait until i birth? Teks say 1-2 weeks but some people here say 3-5 days is good. I dont mind waiting but if it isn't nessesary then why would i.
