Nah. I'm divided on the issue. In my highest moments I am ecstatic and intuiting further ecstasis which means no more me. I am convinced that I once experienced Asamprajnata Samadhi where Awareness was Compassion Aware of Compassion, and Markos was utterly absent. The Infinite Ocean of Unbearable Compassion contracted from Plenum Void to Point - in the Lotus of my Heart in the blink of a mind-moment, and Markos returned. Like the New Testament parable in which Jesus turns water to wine, and the guests are amazed that unlike saving the poor wine til everyone is drunk, the Best wine is saved til last - it may well be that after all our fear, death will be the best trip ever (for some individuals whose veils are very thin).
The rest of the time, too identified with my mortality, I am a psychophysical being that wishes to exist, and who fears illness and death. Illness sucks of course, but if death were merely becoming unconscious, it would be no different than going to sleep. Is it suffering, dependency, loss of control that we fear most? I'll continue to read The Bardol Thodol (Tibetan Book of the Dead) for tips on systematically, consciously shutting down the elements at the actual time of passing. Knowing before hand from a PBS show how a cataract operation proceeds allowed me a sense of control and comfort during my own operation. I knew when the eyeball was incised, I heard and knew the sound of the vacuum pump at my feet as they mascerated and sucked out my lens, etc. even though I couldn't see what was going on. Perhaps a poor analogy, but I didn't freak out and followed the stages consciously, knowing everything would be all right.
I may get out, but nobody gets out alive. We'll get out transcending biological life and death.

If I died right now, I would be okay with it, because up to this point my life has been pretty complete. There really isn't anything in my life that I don't really want or feel like I have to accomplish, and everything I have accomplished so far could probably fit into a complete lifetime, enough of one to make me happy.

You die many times before your death. The cells in your body die every day, and after a few years all the cells that compose you are reborn, making you a different entity, if indeed you are an entity at all.
A constant self from birth to death does not exist, so how is death different from life? The consciousness attached to the divisions which so quickly arise and pass away does not seem dependent on permanence, so there is no reason to regret or fear death any more than walking out the door.

I don't know about hilarious... I rather enjoy life and the people in it. Well, most of them anyway. Some of these punks need to go. I'm getting tired of these Girls Gone Wild videos too. Do people really watch these things? How many drunk college titties can you see before you become jaded? Oh, wait...
Pondering the finiteness of your consciousness seems awfully absurd, though. Oblivion is a hard concept for me to wrap my head around. I guess laughing at death is as good a response as anything another. It sure is odd.

I don't find this funny at all, unless I'm on the border of an ego-splitting, full-on trip. At this moment, it mostly pisses me off. I think of it as being the butt of a cruel joke; no matter how much good I do for this world, no matter how perfectly, carefully, modestly, successfully I live my life, I'm only going to lose it in the end. I'm looking at it as the game no one wins.
Probably my view will change in a matter of days.

Yea, that about covers it. But it's a view of a small, separated self and can be transcended. That (transcendence) is the way out that existential philosophers missed.

Actually, I do find it hilarious. I "deal" with death through humour, if you want to call it "dealing"
When My father died, I was making myself and my family and friends laugh, and when my Great Grandma (got to see the Boston Redsox win the World Series twice!) and Grandpa died within a week from eachother, I thought that was kinda funny.

Yeah, that's a perfectly valid way of looking at life, but your perception is everything. You have an unlimited ability to create your own interpretation of life so why choose one that makes you suffer? I think Buddhism and Taoism have a lot to offer in this area. If you live in the present moment (sounds cliche, but it works) without clinging to your own preconceived notions of what would be best for you and others and accept things as they come, including your own bodily destruction (viewing it simply as change), you can live peacefully in the midst of uncertainty and destruction, including that which you inevitably cause simply by eating, breathing, moving around, etc. The more you practice this, the more your suffering and then your fear goes away, including fear of death, and life no longer seems like a cruel joke.

I guess I should clarify: In think it's funny in the sense of a practical joke. One does not necessarily want a practical joke to happen to them, but it's still funny when it happens. What's funny about death is that all the stuff that you strive to have or to be all ends up the same. Bill Gates will meet the same fate as some crack-addicted homeless guy. Put in all that work and strive to be successful, have the big house in the hills with a big swimming pool and an expensive car, and then you die, just like every other shmuck.

Then it seems to all come down to the quality of life one leads and the effects one creates. One can create "good" effects and help pro-survival entities survive or one can do the the opposite. It's really quite fascinating that human behavior can be looked at that simply and accurately.

I've accepted the inevitability of my own death. It is the nature of reality, and it is not within my realm of influence to prevent myself from dying, ultimately. I find myself sitting on the verge of what could really be described as a new life, in that my life situation has begun signfigantly changing, and I've been changing as a result, and I'm looking forward to all of the times and experience I will be sharing with another. Yet, if I were to die on the way to work today, it would simply be the nature of reality, and how could one emotionally resist that which one cannot influence to transpire in a different manner?
I mean, if I was in a situation where the potentiality that I would die in that situation was present, and I could initiate action that would prevent myself from dying, would I? Of course! I enjoy living life and would love to continue to have the opportunity to be aware and to understand reality and to share this life with the most amazing person in this universe. Does this mean that I am attached to not dying? Of course it doesn't... I simply prefer not to die. If I was about to die, and there was nothing I could do to prevent it, would I resist death? Of course not, it would be unreasonable and obstructive of that present experience of reality. I will reach out and enjoy that strawberry before I plummeted to my death, I will marvel at the beauty of the tiger that was about to rip my throat to shreds....
I've already died, truth be told. Its the only way to live life.

Yes, in that 'horizontal' dimension across a time line, death is the big equalizer. But...while both Bill Gates and the homeless crack addict move in linear time, it is questionable as to whether either of those walks of life have endeavored to rise above linear time into a Timeless Present. Gates has his immense financial and philanthropic (forced in part by needful tax write-offs) achievements to lift his ego-identity, and the nameless crack addict has his cocaine bicarbonate to lift his impoverished ego, but both of them have to hit a ceiling if ego enhancememnt is the sole reward, not transcendence as the soul reward, whether you're 'flying' in a Lear jet or a cardboard box.

Put in all that work and strive to be successful, have the big house in the hills with a big swimming pool and an expensive car, and then you die, just like every other shmuck.
Kinda~, kinda~ not.... I am going to go out on a limb here and say that Billy boy most likely has signed up to be a cryogenic-meat-popsicle when he dies.... Tho~ nothing is for certain in this particular field upon reviving, the possibility still exists that his money may save him for a longer life later.... Poetic irony would be that when he is awakened, he is considered a "low life" within society for being the "creater of Windows", and is sentenced to death for all of the complications and problems that happens with the software after his first death....!

I can't answer that question. Maybe you can?
