spawn not working properly

I spawned hand collected, pasturized horse poo with colonized popcorn. Its been about four days and the mycelium hasnt really spread into the poo rather just expanded off the kernels a little bit. Should I wait a little longer, add vermiculite (maybe the poo is too wet)? Some of the poo was a little damp when I shredded it, not that it wasnt leeched, it just had some moisture left from the last rain. any thoughts and suggestions would be helpful.

Try mixing your poo w/ timothy hay or coir or even pasteurized crushed corn cob. My experience w/ poo say it need something to give a structure so to say.

straight horse manure is fine do not add corn cob as there is great contamination risk doing that.if the manure is too wet then yea it will take longer to colonize.I make my manure pretty dry then once it starts to colonize i start to build up the moisture content with misting.the reason we use horse manure is because of it's structure/fibrous texture that mycelium loves.

Cob is know for holding a crap load of trich spores.Thats also why it's not good for wbs style jars that and it's mooshy if not done correctly. You would have better results if you did Horse Manure,Gypsum, veg oil, straw, compost. Not saying it cant work just ime it is prone to contamination.
