I went hunting this weekend around Ichetucknee springs and didnt find anything. It was pretty aggravating. Maybe I need to make my way farther south or catch the field the day after it rains. Things were starting to dry up but I thought there would be a few left. Non-actives were everywhere so I figured there had to still be some copes or cubes. I was also with my girlfriend, who is not the most adventurous person. Finding a safe spot for the car was next to impossible. Do most people here go at night at during the day? Do most people ask permission, and does it usually work?

I try to find fields that have woods/trees. I don't ask for permission. I go an hour or two before dark for the most part.

i try to get permission or hunt on public land. when i seek permission, i try to arrange it in advance, and hence have standing permission to hunt in many places in many areas ranging from california to idaho to washington state.

it can be a pain getting permission to be on somebody else's private property, but once you do, it's a bond of respect and is rewarding.

I went out for my first time and found some shrooms that obviously weren't active. I was so sure they were and everyone on here told me they werent, but i was hardheaded and tried them anyhow. nothing happnened.

i guess i'll learn as i go more often. i need to scout out a better field during the daytime as the one i went in didnt have many and the ones that were there obviously werent the right ones...i has been raining the past few days though. im planning another trip in a day or so.

I am curious if GGreatone and other experienced mushroomers now consider this a very late 2007 SW Florida season. This unseasonal dryness seems to have made a big difference.

i just went out the other day and we found about 20 grams of cubes. i found 3 large ones in grass that was about 8 inches high, on the cow field. my buddy was working the trees and he saw many patches of cubes growing in cow shit, they were pretty small so we let a lot of them stay to grow. we saw someone walking in the field next to us and he was coming towards us, so we dident know if he was a farmer or what so i kinda started walking away but my buddy was still in the field(i was on the fence) i think he could of been another shroomer cuz why would he be in the fields walking around. and he was sorta looking down but i dunno. also took a spore print when i got home and i was able to make 2 nice syringes from the cubes. also ate them and had a nice little trip.

(please copy and paste this on to threads about the south, We need as much Info as possible, SOUTHERN HUNTERS UNITE!)

If your a southern hunter, have visited the south, or are just plain smart...WE NEED HELP!!

Please visit http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=7156824&page=0&vc=&PHPSESSID=#Post7156824

It is a guide to the south and I very much need help, I want to make the BEST guide possible so i can post it up for all my southern hunters...
I've been working on it for a few months using info from the net, but what i really need is knowledge from the field, people who actually hunt in these areas.
So please, please, please If you've hunted in the Carolinas, Virginia, Tennessee and Georgia please help.
Everybody knows we got cubes at the coast, we don't really need that info. I'm interested in the finds from the mountains, foothills and piedmont of these states.
P.S.- If you've been getting lucky in Kentucky, you can post too, everyone just make sure and tell me what state your in.

yea I picked a few mushrooms that I wasn't sure if they were active or not but I though them out. I don't think it was a pan but I am not to experienced with pans. I was upset to find not one cope. I never ask permission I just hop the fence and start picking. Then after 30 mins get the hell out of there, its right next to a road but not a busy road at all.
