according to the zombie survival guide they do. They prefer humans, however will attack whatever is near if there are no humans in the vicinity.

I'm sorry, I just can't beleive a Zombie would ever go for a non-human...Does that survival guide have a Bibliography so that I may check the accuracy of the information at hand?
Seriously, why would a Zombie go for a House Cat? It's just so illogical It makes me want to punch my kids.

could you somehow lure them into a corral or something with pig brains and then detonate remotely a huge bomb? Or does blowing them up not suffice, does it have to be a head shot?

well I mean brains are pretty much the same shit in all primates. They just developed to different capacities, the atomic materials are still the same. Pigs are however fairly smart as far as animals go.
You shouldn't punch your kids for no reasons.

well the zombies' instinct is to just maim/destroy/devour life. they are predisposed to attack humans, and when given a choice between a live human and a live pig, they'll always choose the human. however, when no humans are around, and there's a pig squealing up a storm trapped in a small area, the zombies will definitely attack it.
Using pig for bait could work for a few zombies, but not like an entire city. for one, zombies are predisposed to really only want to devour live meat, or meat from a being that only very very recently expired. So you couldn't just dangle some pig brains and expect every zombie in the city to amass around it. or any for that matter.

apolly, you should really get the survival guide. I'm actually surprised that you haven't read it. it seems strange that you'd have zombie fantasies without having at least read some max brooks. regardless, you should get it (The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks) as well as World War Z by Max Brooks. Both are highly entertaining.

If you can remember in Dawn of the Dead near the beginning, when they're flying away from Philly and see all the rednecks having a blast shooting zombies?
The area they were talking about is about an hour, hour and a half east of me.. and it's really no different at all than where I am now.
Romero was spot-on. The goddamned hicks here WOULD have a blast, break out the beer, the huntin' gear, and the music. Classic rock or country. And I'd be right there with 'em.

I`d do different things depending on the situation. I`m assuming this is
all worst case scenario so hunkering down and waiting for the military or hillbillys to do something about it isnt going to happen. I`d shoot
any infected family members and worst case scenario climb into the addict if they over ran my house. Then i`d kick holes through the ceiling and bait them into coming within range with a dangling foot; until I cleared them out of the house. Then i`d go to a super-walmart
and barricade myself in with my guns; if they`re not open; I`ll drive
through the glass door and wedge the car as a barricade and potential
escape plan. Theres wooden palates and machinery and metal racks and filled boxes to use to barricade the glass doors. and the back door
is secure, so I`ll keep that as an entry exit and completely barricade
any other potential openings. Most likely other survivors Will try to
get in or already be there. That means more eyes for the night gaurd shift; and they wont destroy the barricades if i let them in the back door; but it also means more potential for disease outbreak..so we`ll
lock any potential infected up and shoot the disorderly, and I`ll sleep in the addict. That store should have food, guns. ammo and fresh
water and generators and equipment to repair them. If the store is filled with zombies when i get there I`ll climb onto the roof and enter the addict and shoot from the ceiling until im out of ammo.
Then I`ll have to find a rope and something heavy to drop on their heads and pull back up. or jump down into the gun section. and find an
office door if need be to reload or hide in. I`ll grab a katana and
a gallon of water and a rope before I go to wally world.

They had a zombie walk in that mall last year.. I had off work.
But I only found out about it A WEEK AFTER THE FACT.
Heartbreaking.
I've never been there.. it's really not that far away, though. I probably should go see it.

Costco is a really bad idea. You think it's just going to be only you and your friends/family and there won't be people outside with guns and whatever else trying to get in too? And that's if you're the first ones there. Good luck with that.
And yeah, I've had fantasy's of zombie attacks too, but when it comes down to it, I like my power and my AC and my internet and being able to turn on the TV and hear the news. A zombie attack would kind of suck.
As far as my plan goes I'm with the one guy when he says he will just go far up north. Zombies can't survive cold like that.
