I'm with Coon on this one. The most comon lawn mushroom in the world except for maybe Panaeolina foenisecii, Conocybe lactea.

In an attempt to provide excellent service to shroomery members, I made a special foray to collect a few specimens of what I am pretty sure are the same mushroom that started this thread.

Conclusion: Conocybe albipes
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conocybe_albipes
Both Bolbitius and Conocybe are in the Bolbitiaceae, but a Bolbitius would have a yellower stem, the cap would expand to plane in age, and would have an even more noticeable apical germ pore.
Thanks to Ganymede for noticing my mistake and to Coon for pinpointing the exact species.

Ok i take back my bolbitus thought. Conocybe seems to be the more likely. especially since ive never found bolbitus in grass.

In my area, Bolbitius vitellinus is common on lawns, though I also find it in the woods.
For comparison, here is a picture of B. vitellinus spores:

Notice the big flat spot on one side - It has an unusually large apical germ pore.

Well, looks like this got all sorted out while i was snoozing. I have seen Bolbitius species grow from grass, though they are far more prevalent on wood, straw, or manure, as opposed to Conocybe which are extremely common grass mushrooms, and require very little water supply to fruit.

Those just took a few seconds, I used a cannon a640 on automatic in macro mode.
The last one I took in automatic with the high-iso setting, it looked better than the other one without that setting for some reason. Doesn't seem to matter much how the camera is focused, I just use autofocus then adjust the fine focus on the microscope until it looks best.
