I have been reading a lot of conflicting messages about whether or not there are any of the precious alkaloids in the skin of a pedro. Some of the posts and websites say that it only makes a mess if you boil them and that they are a waste of time anyway. Do you guys throw the skins in or toss em in the garbage, or do you not even bother to skin it? I ate some raw pedro last night that I skinned. I cut off all the white as well. I just ate the alkaloid rich green material. I got a threshhold buzz with my wifa that was pleasant but still a little bit of a letdown. I have a huge pedro with 6 stalks so I will be exploring further but why let anything go to waste if I dont have to. Thanks. Chemkid

how much did you eat? was it you that posted you ate 6 inches of a four inch diameter pedro? this wont be enough. when i was samplin pedro ( from my local Tucson Home Depot) we found that you need at least 10 inches of that stuff to get a slight effect. we skinned it and used the first .25 to .5 inches inside ( the dark green part), we tried boiling it, frying it, and other shit, but we just cant stand the taste. not worth it in my opinion. id rather just eat shrooms. oh well at least we are lucky in AZ that you can go to the store and buy that shit anytime! good luck.

yeah...that was me that posted last night. I will definitely try again in spite of the god awful taste. I might do an extraction to avoid all the nastiness. Even though I only got a threshhold it was still very pleasant. I live in Tucson as well. I bought my pedro at harlow nurseries. Next time I will try about ten inches. Six just didn't take me where I wanted to go. I cant shroom yet because my jars are still colonizing. Thanks for the post. Chemkid

once, we boiled it for like 10 hours and then took out the cactus and slowly boiled off the rest of the water until there was a brownish slime of about a half cup. the shitty part is that the taste just gets that much more potent when boiled down. it tasted like battery acid or some disguisting thing. oh well good luck, yeah i read one of your first posts, you said you go to school here at UofA?? I am a student there and one other shroomerite is also. good to know more people from this area.

so basically you say fuck the skin and toss it? That's what I did. This may sound crazy but I was thinking of making a salad out of it. I figure if I drown the shit in ranch dressing it should help a little. I'll let ya know. Hey do you know of a good club around here that is hospitable for people like us who like to explore the world of entheogens?

lol, yeah try salad dressing, try anything it is bad tasting! yeah with the clubs. there isnt much. There are no clubs that have crazy cool lights and such ( 8 Trax is the closest thing to that) but Hotel Congress is a hang out for such types. it is just a regular club but that is where i met my first weed hookup here in town. At this point me and my friend hang around my apartment or else we go out to places like Gates pass. we are going tonight i think!

yeah, i have been to 8-trax before it is probably the closest thing I have seen around here that might be fun. I haven't tried congress yet. Gates Pass...that's over there by "A" mountain right. Are you shrooming? Do you know if there is any cross tolerance between shrooms and mescaline (pedro)?

This stuff San Pedro is overated in my opinion. But what does my opinion really matter, right? LOL. I tried it once and didnt do enough to make me see anything or really even feel anything. It just kept me awake for a while. When we did it we just cut the dark green fleshy part Not the skin but the part just underneath it and fried it in a frying pan. It still tasted shitty. I say just pop some caps and let those go to town on your brain. Its easier, less messy, and tastes a whole hell of a lot better!!!
