Can someone please identify this mushroom?
    #7078773 - 06/22/07 09:55 AM (13 years, 8 months ago)

My wife is growing some basil plants and when I woke up this morning I found these 2 little shrooms popping out of the soil. I have not grown edibles so I know the spores couldn't be from me. Any idea what these are? I have to admit it was pretty cool to find these!

Hey now!
Definitely always cool to see nature at work! That said, I'm no good at taxonomy, so you'd do a lot better IMO if you posted this in the hunting forum, there are a lot of knowledgeable people in there.

You will need to give them as much info as you can, because the ID will be determined in part by the variables -

1. What is the local high and low temps right when they were fruiting?
2. Climate or general geographical location
3. If you can take a spore print, the color will be useful.
4. What is the medium they are growing in?
5. Altitude may be of significance

Other than that, I'm not sure, but if you do get an ID over there, pop in here and let us all know (that is if someone here can't ID it...)
Light and Love,
JD

They appear to be some sort of Coprinus. disseminatus maybe?
