Is this a Viridis or Carthaginensis? How can you tell the difference?

It looks like a P.Viridis a kind member on here sent me. Except mine has way more leafs. I'll post pictures soon. I don't know for sure if it is, I just took his word for it. It was free.
Is this P. Viridis?

It's a p.v. as I said in the other forum. P carth has a more rounded leaf tip. P.V. has pointed leaves.

zekesdream: Your plant can be alba or viridis. It's more probable that is alba, because normally viridis don't flower when young, and your plant look so young to produce flowers. Alba normally flower very young, but viridis not. So maybe your plant is P. alba. Look this post, have a leaf comparisson of Psychotria viridis and Psychotria alba.

badreligion2good: about your plant, i'm true about the identification: Psychotria alba.

thanks for all the input guys.
James007, thanks for your thread, it's very informative and helpful. i've bought psychotria "viridis" from two U.S. sellers, and they look exactly like the P. Alba in your images. I think Alba is what I have. the consistenly wavy leaf edges and distinctive vein patterns convince me it's alba.

Hi Stoney, long time no see pal! Hope everything is fine!
James really knows his shit, he has taught me a lot of things on Ayahuasca. It´s very common to see P. alba sold as viridis in the US, Ebay is flooded of them.

Hi Felix. Yes, it could be a p alba, possibly. However, I have noticed that even fairly young p viridis will flower when the season is right. Besides that, you can't tell from the photo if it's a young plant or a rooted cutting and zekesdream did not say. Unless he grew it from seed it's likely a rooted cutting.

yeah stonehenge, it is indeed a recently rooted cutting.
I can't seem to find any pictures of P. Alba through a web search, but an image search of P. Viridis consistently looks the same as James007's photos of Viridis, which when viewed side-by-side against his Alba, is clearly quite different.
The "Viridis" plants I've seen for sale on Ebay look like James007's P. Alba.
Please post any links to other images of P. Alba you come across. I can't seem to find any.

Hi,
sorry but there are no links about Psychotria alba. I only know because i have many friends of UDV, the only religion in Brazil that use P. alba ( but also use P. viridis too ). This specie is from same region of P. viridis, but root very easy and fast, and grow stupid fast, much more than viridis, but it have less alkaloids than viridis, but it should be considered fina for making ayahuasca brew, specially when you also have some p. viridis to add to the brew too. Some sellers sell P. alba has P. carthaginensis but normally they are not carthaginensis. P. carthaginensis is native in a area VERY, VERY VERY distant from Amazon.

Looks like alba to me but they are said to have just as much alkaloids as viridis.

The only thing that annoys me is that seller is trying to convince me that this is actually Viridis:/

It's quite likely he or she does not know. Most viridis is actually alba, and so the problem is perpetuated when the imposters become the references that people use to determine the ID of what they have.

I have already bought that plant. Only a few days ago realised that it might not be a Viridis. I contacted the seller, told them about my concerns, sent them pictures of real Viridis but they ignored me saying that I'm not right.

Alba grows faster than viridis and is potent so dont fret.

i purchased a supposed p viridis from a seller on ebay and had to send it back because i had identified it as alba. the seller still claims its viridis and the source where he got his mother plant from still claims that is is real viridis. i know 100% it wasn't but couldnt tell until i saw it up close. be careful buying stuff on ebay. i think most of the p viridis leaf being sold on there is alba too. im thinking you might be dealing with the same seller. best of luck there.
