source for wheat straw beside local feed sources??

i'm pretty sure people who grow deep in the city don't really have the access
or the time to travel to the nearest feed shop for wheat straw would appreciate
this post.

any good sources from people who know would be appreciated.

I got mine at Walmart.
Your post brings to mind a picture of someone hauling a bale of hay on the subway. I suppose some things are just out of place in the " big city"

Can you buy like fairly small bags of wheat hay at walmart and shit? Or do you have to buy a big-ass bale?

most pet shops sell large bricks of compressed straw, enough for 2 or 3 large casings.

I can go harvest, and dry you some right now! cheaper then any of those corporate monsters, but it has been the trend lately, to just ignore these pointless offeres.

I buy my straw at Gardenridge. Look at craft/home interior type stores. Gardenridge sells a small bale (about 14-15 inches long and about 12 inches wide & deep) that you can tuck into a closet easily. I use file folder sized boxes and grow off straw spawned with bird seed. One of these bales usually gives me a nice, deep substrate layer for 3 boxes. Cost is about $3.00, and they are always in stock for me. It isn't labeled as wheat straw, but "maxi-straw" so I don't know exactly what it is. I do know it works - with at least 7 cub strains so far.
