I was mowing my lawn today, and I looked down and saw these little guys. They look like Pann Subbs to me, im new to mushrooms though so im not sure on anything. The spore print is jet black (you can see in the picture) They have a firm stem. They were growing in the new grass in my backyard. I figured maybe the grass had cow mannuar put on it to help grow. Heres the pics.

I would let them print longer. It is hard to tell if the print is jet black or dark brown.

i would say foes and they are inactive because subbs rings are more consistant around the cap

the degree of hygraphany is not always consistent, nor is the moisture level at the time of picking or photographing, which causes the zonate belt effect.

the print looks brown in the picture and the stipe looks rather smooth, but as usual, it's hard to tell from the photo.

print them for a longer period [like 12-24 hours] and interpret the print then.

They look like foes to be because the gills are brown and the stem is not straight.

But if it really is jet black not jet walnut brown, then they are subbs.

The print in the first picture was only for like 30 minutes. Heres a picture of one that was like 2 or 3 hours.

its black, i dont know if you can tell from this picture and its kinda of yellow from my light, but the cap also now has some dark blueish spots on the top of it. I'll get a better picture soon.

here is your image with an adjusted white balance, notice that the slightly less concentrated areas of the print are defiantly brown in color. I would suggest using a GE-REVEAL bulb, macro-shot on the camera, and shoot with available lighting only as the flash tends to throw off the white balance of the shot (giving a yellowing or bluing effect depending on your main light source).

I would say foes...and i have ALOT of experience with foes.... seems i can find them anywhere and everywhere that i DON'T want them :wink:

remember that to obtain a more accurate image; you will need to adjust the color balance to remove the yellow tint contributions.
