    #7045136 - 06/14/07 07:50 AM (16 years, 9 months ago)

So i decided to finally wake up early and go shroom hunting. I found a number of long narrow grayish capped mushrooms.

Here are links to the Pictures i took before they got too shriveled. sorrry for the quality guys.

Habitat: Found growing on older cow manure, at 7 in the morning after light showers in the earlier part of the night. High Humidity.

Gills: The Gills are a dark black color and a small and close

Stem: White, Very Fragile with spore substance on it, which came off on my hands when i pulled them. 3 inches - 10 inches

Cap: gray to grayish blue, smooth, All are under an inch in diameter.

Bruising: No color change was observed.

Location: Picked in Southern Texas Near the Gulf.

If anyone could help me with identifying these i would love you forever.

I believe you have inactive Coprinus or Coprinellus species, aka inky caps. Did the gills and caps turn black and gooey, inky even?

If they were copes, which they are not, you would be looking for blue bruising on the caps, especially the stems.

Are these edible and psychoactive? If they are i will go back for active ones in a few days because we are about to get a bunch of showers.

Neither. But they are related to a psychoactive species, and can sometimes be found growing with them. So it would pay to go back to the same spot.
