weird find??
    #7047017 - 06/14/07 07:42 PM (13 years, 8 months ago)

Hey everyone , I'm not much of a expert but i will do what i can. So i was walking around my apartment and spotted some of these:

Habitat: i found this around my apartment , it was like in a bed of pine straw , mulch , hope this pic can help ,

Gills: no separated gills like common mushies , is more like a spongy surface of spores or something , sorry I'm no expert.

Stem: its a light yellow and is very stiff , curved at the base and some light purple too at the base , about 2 inches long

Cap: light pink and yellow with some dark stripes , its not so smooth , its very thick and seem to be very wet inside.

Bruising: this mushie bruised blue!! you can see it in the pics , the stem bruised blue when slightly twisted , and the area where the gills should be turns dark blue to black when simply touched.

Location: in Jacksonville fl.

i would like to know if this is edible at least , i see it bruises blue just like cubes but is obviously not a cube plz help!

I dont know of any mushroom that has poly pore gills with a stem that is not a bolete of some kind. Not all boletes are edible by the way.

It could be a Boletus regius, Boletus appendiculatus, Boletus dryophilus or another of the bluing boletes.

Make sure you match up all the features before you decide to eat it - If you eat the wrong bolete, you will throw up!

i would say dryophilus is a possibility, but IMO the other two are out of the question.

NO. it is a boletus, not a psilocybe(hense psilocybin).
