You can't help but feel revered when walking through an ancient forest. There is an energy there, if you know how to feel it.

Walking around the apartment complex I live at is a feast for the eyes when it comes to giant trees. I'm enclosed on all sides basically by these huge beings, and let me tell ya, it really puts everything into perspective for me

I do a lot of backpacking, and I do know if I get really tired on the trail, I can stop and hug a large tree for a minute or two and recover a lot of energy. Darned if I know how to measure or otherwise quantify what it is, but it's there.

i had a conversation with a tree before, but not in the traditional sense. there were no words being used, only states of being, some of which i was able to decode into my own language, others which only left me mystified and at the end of the discourse, deeply humbled. :mushroom2:

I dunno~ if you watched the Planet Earth series, but there is one about trees, or the forest, or something like that....
On that show, they showed some big OLD trees up high on some mountain that were thousands of years old....
They were all gnarly looking (in a cool way), and were said to be the oldest living organisms on the planet....

Sentient or not, they have experienced a helluva~ lot of time go by - in a tree sort of way....

Kinda reminds me.. up here in Colorado near the treeline the trees grow all funky. I am guessing due to the lack of oxygen and the high winds up there. Doesn't have much to do with this thread, but I thought I'd share some pictures. They are pretty neat looking.
