In response to this ^^^ why?
I have a 1.86 Gthz processor with 40 gb of memory and like 512 mb RAM. I had to make my machine on a budget. But there is a plan in the works for a new machine that will put you all to shame!
-------------------- The story goes, or the way that I was told There was a king that always felt too high and then he fell too low And so he called all the wise men to the hall And begged them for a gift to end the rises and the falls But here’s the thing, they came back with a ring It was simple and was plainly unbefitting of a king Engraved in black, it had no front or back But there were words around the band that said Just know: This Too Shall Pass

Media/data storage. I have a lot of old movies digitized and over a thousand other films and shorts plus several hundred gigs of music.I also have an enormouse library of research papers, hence the massive storage, the other hardware is what it takes to support it efficiently. As for a budget if one were to add up the cost of all the components my tower replaces,it was a hell of a deal

That's not how the world works. A majority can't sit back and expect everyone to adapt to them. It's a give-and-take process where all participants adapt to the greater whole.

The magic word is discography. A folder containing all albums a given band or artist has ever made. You run through those on a rainy day and select your likes and dislikes.
Whiterasta is one of our more senior members. He has lived through a couple decades of music, perhaps a couple decades more than you even
With 2.3 TB at your disposal, why not have it all?
My own Music folder spans about 15 GB but that includes a large videoclip/concert registration section. And album wrap and discography files. Remember those words

i just checked and i have 15.2gb of music. it includes a wide variety of bands and genres. from black sabbath to baphomet engine. from shpongle to alice in chains. i guess that if i had 2.3tb i, too, would have every song from every band in there.

I intend to retire in a third world country and start my own radio/TV feed.I can wire a small village with coax and can run movies and music for the rest of my life.If I stay out of politics and the news I will not have any problems with the various "authorities", while I also bring a huge library of information to people. I have complete studies in ecological mamagement, hydro electric power, formulas for medicines/drugs,sustainable agriculture, philosophy, and lots more.Any of you ever think of what you could do with a fully loaded computer in a third world country? I have laid my groundwork with a certain Southern country and expect to retire there in 4.5 yrs as a gov. consultant for rebuilding certain infrastructurs such as bridges( I am certified to test concrete and blend mixes for structural material) and telecom( I have been self employed doing advanced teleconferencing systems).while I am also enjoying a stable gov. white sands and getting old I hope to bring a source of carefully selected knowledge to folks with out acess to libraries and computers. PS All 237gigs of music are cross referenced and filed, not that I will ever hear it all it is there and not lost to time if my kids are good about backing up. An electronic timecapsule if you will of a big chunk of recorded music. The video and movies are not as well kept at this point but filed by genre.I also have mirrors of several websites that are gone now. It is my tool and toy.
