8 oz snap on lid jars

Well.. i was at the Y thrift store and found some 8 oz jars with a snap on lid.. they were only 1.50 so i couldn't see why not give them a try. I just wondered if anyone has ever tried using the snap on lids? They're ball, and at least tapered, it doesn't mention anything about NOT boiling/pressure cooking but they outline a method where you don't have can them. However, i will probably try a run with one jar to see if the lid makes it.. if not i was just going to use aluminum foil and cap it after it has cooled a bit. sound good? Just wondering.

are the lids plastic? do they have any metal in them? If not it sounds like a good idea to use them in developing a microwave tek...

they are all plastic. No metal involved in these jars.. but not a super tight seal around the lid you know? just as airtight as a snap on lid like margirine or something. the microwave might work, but i don't know about birdseed in the microwave and verm/brf is kinda hard in the microwave (attempted) hmm. just wondering if the thin plastic lids are pc'able. only one way to really find out. but i know they have plastic lids for the jars. I found some in wal-mart finally so i'm going to grab them also.

I was over looking at the MushMush site today.....when the Shroomery was down.
They are using a plastic cup and lid with great results.
go take a peak.
