Well you've probably thought about growin good ol maryjane and you've probably done some research online and gave up. I mean most tutorials will tell you you need some expenisve HPS lights and some air systems and ventilations and the list goes on....fuck that. Heres a simple step by step. Pics included.
Step one: Seeds $0-10 -Well where should one get seeds? You can get em online, its pretty safe and secure, variety of strains, beautiful pictures you see on seed sellers websites and insane prices, 10 seeds for $100. But thats not for you, we are workign on a budget here. Go to your dealer and buy regs, or w/e kind of weed hes selling with seeds and stems, preferably just seeds and weed. Brake your bud, take out all the seeds, smoke bud, save seeds. Or goto your buddys house who might be smoking bud, take the seeds from his baggy, with his permission ofcourse. Look for FULL, brown seeds, such as these:
Step two: Germinating seeds $0, 1-3 days -There are many ways to germinate seeds, but heres how I do it, and it works every time. Fill a glass/cup with water drop all(or the # of plants youd like to grow) seeds in there and put in a dark place for about 12 hours. Now after 12 hours, take em out of water and put em in between 2-3 folded, moist paper towels. And once again put in a dark place. Make sure to keep the paper towels moist all the time and after about a day or 2 you will see little sprouts:
Step three: Soil, pots and planting $10-20 depending on where you live, season -Pots, goto your 99c store and get the cheapest pots the have, size is upto you. Think medium to large pots, should be nomore than 2 bux a piece. -Soil, ive tried a few different brand but there is NOTHING like MiracleGro potting soil mix. Fill your pots to the top, wet the soil. Pretty much FLOOD the damn thing, then let the excess water run out. It has to be moist, but there should be no puddles. -Planting, take your little sprouts and plant them right in the middle of your pot, tail down, head up, dont plant too deep, as a matter of fact your "head" should be a little visible, sprinkle some dirt on it and put under the light.
Step four: Lighting $0-50 -Coil Compact Fluorescent Bulb is the way to go. Get those energy effiecient lights. They will usualy read something like 25w = 100w of normal light or w/e. The way I do it is I get about 6 of these, that means at 6x25w of efficient light I will be getting like 600w normal light. You can go as high as 1000w if you'd like, but its not wattage thats important, its the lumens. The kind of light bulbs i get usualy push anywhere from 1500-2500 lumens a bulb, the more lumens the better. Now put your babies under the lights and keep em at 18/6 untill flowering. When is it time to flower? Once a plant is about a foot tall you can start flowering, meaning switching to 12/12, but aim higher 2+ feet.
Simple Closet Set-Up and other things you will need $0-15 -For 6 light bulbs you will need 3 extension cables with 2-sided 3 outlest. Just look at the picture I drew:
Ya its a shitty picture but w/e. Also you will need light socets with forks that will go straight into your 3way extension cords.
Now, keep it it clean, water once every say 8-10 days, dont over-water, and here whats you're gonna get in about 4-6 weeks:
So with a budget of only $70-100 bux you can have your own home-grown bud. Hope that helps.

Thank you. Yea 1 thing i forgot to mention..the smell. While the smell is amazing, especially if its in your bedroom, it will get strong, so keep your closet doors closet and use some sort of OUST or w/e. Unless you aint worried about the fuzz.

Very nice. With just a little more investment one could get a good quality HPS bulb for some extta umph when they start to flower.

Hey great to see you're growin,
my first was Kali Mist fertilized with Miracle Gro... Was great except for the chemical aftertaste. I grow straight organic now and I can tell you it's mellower and the plants are much more relaxed and happy. Also, you can grow with cheap seeds but you do get what you pay for in genetics... Check it out: NorthernLights X PurpleHaze X LambsBread X Pluton = Mr.Clean Mr.CleanXJackHerer = Jack's Cleaner Jack's Cleaner X Cinderella99 = Cloud99! Quality Genetics are the highest priority!

I cant believe all the responses so far...
Enriched Miracle Grow soil huh? something tells me you didnt not grow the pictured plants, with the pictured soil (containing time release fertilizer).
and 6 24w cfls, (24w cfls equate with 100w incandescent), would not come close to a 600w HID ballast. CFL's need to be within 6 inches of the plant to be effective, and have almost no penetrating power. A 600w HID will penetrate 4-5x farther, allowing usable light to hit lower bud sites.
nice try though.

Oh noooo here come the non-believers. And people wonder why jesus had to go. :-\
Like i said its lumens that matter, not wattage. While you are correct, a 600w HID will infact be a better light, and produce jucier buds no Qs about it, but this is a budget set-up.
But hey, my job was to provide some info...its on you how you use it.
Oh and to answer your question LSDevin, id say 3-4th week.

did you actually flower those plants, in the same soil you pictured? The front of the Bag says "Enriched Potting Mix".
The plants could veg just fine, but when flowered with time release fertilizers, you cannot control the feeding accurately.
