Possible cancer cure
    #7032851 -

I've read a little about this thing many people call vitamin B17 and its looks promising as a possible way to deal with cancer, 'very logically I would imagine', I have concluded that: as it occurs naturally in so many fruits(seeds and kernels that are not eaten generally speaking) then .IF. it DOES work...and IF people knew about it..then:- It would take away many current sales trends on chemical and mechanical treatments for cancer. Because 1)Its natural 2)Its Cheap 3)It freely available.

It apparantly cant be patented - and even so - so what who would opt for chemical pills when you can eat fruit instead ??
So lets imagine that the most powerful agencies connected to treating cancer were capable of being tempted by money and stability instead of a total abolition of thier trade - work and organisation in general in allowing people to find out about it - well then, you probably would'nt even have heard of it .

6-7 bitter almonds or stones of peaches every day, are all you need...

Macademia nuts are also especially rich in B17 (Amygdalin) wheat grass juice, and sprouts

Quote:
While no double-blind clinical trials may have been conducted, a clinical trial was carried out in 1982 by the Mayo Clinic[4] and three other U.S. cancer centers under NCI sponsorship. Laetrile and "metabolic therapy" were administered as recommended by their promoters to 178 patients with advanced cancer for which there was no proven treatment. None were cured or stabilized or had any improvement of cancer-related symptoms. The median survival rate was about five months. In survivors after seven months, tumor size had increased. Several patients suffered from cyanide poisoning.

Complete quackery.

Amygdalin converts in the body into cyanide. There is no way around that, and I think you'll find in most trials they have had problems with symptoms of cyanide poisoning.

There have been trials done with amygdalin and they have all come back completely devoid of beneficial effects with respect to cancer.

I urge anyone with cancer to avoid use of amygdalin, and see a competent doctor.

No, it's banned because so-called "vitamin-b17" turns into cyanide when ingested...not something you want in a drug

People have given it a chance...if you follow the wiki link that I posted above there is some links to studies done on amygdalin. No beneficial effects were observed.

One would expect to find some effect on the cancer, if this "miracle drug" had anything to it.

I know Inositol IP-6 is used for cancers....

dunno how well it will work but it's supposed to do something. boost t-cell count but idk how they fights against cancer.

I mean, if there's a cure for cancer then I'm sure everybody would be on it. There's no 'secret' that you know of that I'm sure some scientists or heath professional hasn't thought about yet.

Then again, I could be wrong.

If Amygdalin is so dangerous, then how come we don't all die from cyanide overdose when we consume lots of wheat grass juice, macademia nuts, sprouts, peach cores and many other foods especially rich in b17/Amygdalin?

And how come the woman i told you about ate 60 peach cores per day for many months, without dying from this outrageous overdose of Amygdalin thus Cyanide...

How about the various tribes on earth consuming even 200 times the amount of Amygdalin than a westerner's daily diet...

Wheat grass juice is especially rich in Amygdalin B17....all over Australia they drink it like crazy....how come they're not dead?

questions questions....so many of them!

this outrageous overdose of Amygdalin

I don't know if that is an "outrageous" dose because I don't know the dose/effect profile for amygdalin, but I certainly didn't say it would kill you (though I'm sure it would, given the right dose).

However I did post a link to results of the studies done on amygdalin, and they specifically note the cyanide poisoning effects of it.

I feel sure there are natural substances that can help with cancer but I don't think this so-called vitamin B-17 is the best candidate. There are so many others. My father was diagnosed with cancer not too long ago so this is an area I've done a lot of research in. Icelander helped me put together a basket of remedies that I feel has helped him. He has no signs of cancer at this time.

I felt that it was wise to try a number of things together rather than banking on any one thing. If you are fighting a monster like cancer why put only one bullet in your gun?

I think you are correct in your thinking about drug companies not pursuing natural remedies though. There is certainly far less research being done in this area largely due to the lack of profit motive which you mentioned.

She most likely had built up resistance to the poison from years of regular use.

The same effect can be observed with beekeepers who are stung occasionly during their work. Then one day they are swarmed and survive multiple stings that might kill the average person due to their built-up resistance to the sting's poison.

To me laetrile is actually friendly, not opposed, to the philosophy put forward by orthodox medicine regarding cancer treatment:

Slash, burn, poison.

There are better natural things out there IMO which work with your body in a more gentle way.

He is taking essiac tea, chlorella, flax oil and green tea extract.

I would actually like him to take more things but he doesn't like taking a lot of supplements. I think the essiac and green tea are probably helping him the most.

Ok I have something useful to say now

Trendal - - the Hunzas consume lotsss of apricot kernels - they most certainly arent poisoned by it. I read that there IS a chemical that will make Cyanide from B17 and this chemical is abundant in cancer cells(thus killing them), other cells take b17 in as a food .

So I have gathered A) to be true, and you say B) is true...

A) the Hunzas eat many apricot kernels and are very healthy

B) B17 is poisonous

Ok so please tell me how A) and B) can both be true .

to me this is totally ridiculous .

Trendy dont be offended - I am tying to find truth here .

Oh and I am indebted to those who replied, thank you dudes .
Thanks for the links Sterile .

zorbman hit the nail on the head: repeated use for many years would probably give them some sort of immunity to it.

They certainly aren't eating a fatal dose in one sitting...

Do you not believe me that b17 is toxic? You can read the literature on it, and you'll see that what I'm saying is true.

Well,

to be perfectly honest with you mister T, I have access to many documents that say both that it is and that it isnt toxic - most say it isnt and the ones saying it is are certainly less convincing (not at all actually).

I put -  b17 toxic  - into good ole google and every one of the top ten says that its not toxic, I followed the link for all ten .
I am indeed not silly enough to cite this alone as perfect proof but the links are quite persuasive in the direction of it being gooooood for you .

I am a little busy so I am hoping that you might help me find the documents that have led you to think differently to me .

Well if you search for "b17 toxic" you are going to find pages that say it isn't toxic...because the only people who call it B17 think it is non toxic

Try "amygdalin toxic" and you'll get a different picture...

instead of having your cells replicate at an abnormally fast rate, the cyanide would just cease the function of your cells.

anyhow... I don't know how old you are Myrth, BUT if there were a cure for cancer, don't you think everyone would know about it by now?  Then again, maybe a cure isn't something to look for, rather a treatment, which would be way more lucrative.

Some supplements you may want to look up

Resveratrol
Inositol IP-6

They're also possible cures for cancer!  not really, but I know Inositol IP-6 is a supplement cancer patients use.  Resveratrol is really interesting actually.  You know the whole thing about a glass of wine a day is good for ya?  Well Resveratrol is the grape extract.  If you were a devout wino, then you may achieve the effects of taking a single pill of Resveratrol, but I know they have prescription Resveratrol, which is just a higher dose, and over the counter.  So instead of drinking 100 bottles of wine, you can take two pills without the hangover.

I was reading something the other day that pot apparently kills lung cancer. In lab tests the tumor shrank 50% in 2 weeks. The THC does something to restrict the blood flow to tumors and they die. The stated that this explained why the expected hike in lung cancer in the children of the 60-70's never happened. There was a study Web MD did also that said they set out to prove once and for all that pot caused brain damage and killed braincells and they said they proved the opposite. They followed some of the heavy smokers for up to 13 yrs and there was nothing significantly notable in the comparison between 700 potheads and 400 non smokers of the same age category. The third cool thing was that it made braincells grow back which they don't do. It apparently causes braincell regeneration in lab mice...

Cool huh. Started on topic and drifted but I figured I would throw in the extra couple facts cuz it's neat to know when defending your smoking.

A study done a few years ago on the effects pot has on IQ came up with some interesting results...more-so in light of what you just posted.

They took a bunch of people who had all had IQ tests done when they were 11 or 12, and who hadn't smoked weed yet. They gave them all a second test at 20/21. Then they split them into two goups: the tokers and the non-tokers. They split the tokers into further groups:
-ones who smoked heavily (7 or more joints per week)
-ones who smoked casually (less than 7 per week)
-ones who had smoked and quit 1 year prior to their second test

They found that, on average, the IQs of the people who had never smoked went up 4 points...while the heavy users were down 1 point and the casual users even.

The biggest surprise came from the smoked and quit group, who's IQs rose an average of 5 points...more than the people who had never smoked!

This leads me to wonder...can I expect a 5 point increase 1 year after quitting weed??

I've read that study and you have realize that for this one study with remarkable results, you have about 10-20 more studies that executed the exact same experiments with completely no results.

But as a reader of what's published, you only get to hear about the few studies which did have remarkable results.

I believe the term is called publishing bias...
