but sure it is tempting

good observation
commitment to what ?? Some commitments are sort of slavery contracts, obligations, carried out with a sigh.
Now, to be committed to the business of the heart, that is good stuff.

But then again, once it comes from the heart, can it really be called commitment? By commitment I understand the act of obliging oneself to something, which is not totally from the heart... otherwise it wouldn't imply the obligation but it would come as natural as possible

Why would you let social influences(programming) determine your interpersonal relationships or goals?
Why do you see "commitment"(marriage) as an inevitable part of a relationship?
Why don't you just do what you think is best, and feel no regret?

Do you mean committment as in a relationship or committment as in a insane asylum?
Because for one of these. I think you might be ready.:D

you can either flow with the water or work against it.

You are not afraid of commitment (future tense), but you are afraid of being committed (present tense)....? Why be afraid of becoming, when being is what you become....?
