New Englanders: Get your Ganoderma_!!!!
    #7030132 - 06/10/07 01:38 PM (16 years, 8 months ago)

Hello fellow shroomerites, It's official New England Ganoderma is in season, ripe and ready for harvest. I found 2 species today. I'm fairly certain the first if G. Tsugae, and the second G. Lucindum. I forgot to place an object to gauge the size. The lone G. Lucindum is 6 inches across.

G. Tsugae: found on decaying Hemlock. No spore print see picture.

G. Lucindum: found on decaying hardwood stump, guessing oak.

Short story: I've been going back to the G. Lucindum spot for 3 years now, I am always too late and they have run the course and I find them in an undesirable state. Finally I remembered to go early this year and I got em. I harvested the oldest and biggest and saved the rest for another day. I normally find a few smaller one's every year and save them for tea. When that runs out I buy capsules. I've noticed in cold and flu season when everyone in the office is sick and miserable, I am very seldom if every sick. Good Luck... NFU...

The soft fleshy white part at the leading edge can easily be cloned onto agar. Nice finds. They should flush again later in the summer. In the PNW, we generally get three flushes per year of the G tsugae and G oregonese.

Thanks for the advise R. rabbit. I've seen your posts on ganoderma among others and others and others and others and so on. I appreciate the kudos. Nofindum...
