using perlite only with a PK tek cake setup

ok here is another question you may laugh at...... but teks and other peoples methods aren?t all the same.
anyway say i?m using a rubbermaid grow chamber inch of damp perlite at the bottom
now for the question...... do they still need an outside source of water to keep up the humidity? spray bottle? humidifier? fishtank pump? and if so i?m guess i need to add a drip shield?
i just don?t know if i?m understanding the perlite method with cakes correctly. please guide me in the right direction with how i?m doing already.
thanks.

No not usually...the perlite will take care of the humidity.
no drip shield is necessary.
You will need fresh air so you may want to hook a fish tank pump up to handle it...
lots of good setups with pics can be found by doing a little searching....and read a lot too!
oh ya...its pf tek not pk tek...
have a good one

I'd like to add a comment to what bassplayer said, I don't think you need an air pump exactly if you can't afford one or what not. The LEAST you could do if an air pump isn't available is take the lid off and fan your rubbermaid container as often a day as possible. An air pump would be better, but just in case you didnt have one...
p.s. not trying to one-up ya bassplayer, just thought i'd give my 2 cents

i hear ya...fanning works like a charm too...
careful not to fan too much though...2-3 times a day is plenty.
Air pumps are 5 bucks at walmart.
But if you really want my opinion...get a vicks cool mist...this is the ultimate in humidity and fresh air exchanges IMO. they are 25 bucks but worth every cent.
Your girl has great tits by the way mycelium!...lol Fit in my hands perfectly

Right next to your terrarium. Cut a hole big enough for your hose in the lid...then cut one in the side of your terrarium....connect the dots...la la la...

Did I say I personally was going to use a coolmist? I meant my Aunt Jemimah. Anyways, the fat bitch is going to be using perlite, so would the coolmist be overkill for the humidity?

Can you just humidify the grow room, or do you have to hook it up to the terrarium? AND... do you have to use a cool mist or do the hot ones work too? Thank you all for your help.

what I dont understand is... how will an airpump get rid of the co2 in the bottom of the grow chamber. Maybe you have some kind of exhaust hole in the bottom of your chamber?
