wheat question and fungicides

If the wheat contains pesticides or fungicides, will the mycelia colonize or does it only hold them back when it comes to producing mushrooms?

that's why you soak it, simmer it, and pressure cook it before innoculating. It'll get rid of pretty much anything after those 3 steps.

I've a ton of probably non-organic wheat.
The problems I had was while they colonized really well and fast, when I tried to fruit them all I got was weird blobs:
Probable cause fungicide?

What the hell is that,I would imagine if fungicide was the issue the spores wouldn't germinate at all,I do not know what would make growth that bizarre

The spores were isolated on MEA before being transfered onto the wheat.
I was thinking if it was fungicide it should prevent mycelia as well but I donno now. I knew the farmer and I belive he told me he used pesticide or some fungicide, can't remember.
But I have found cheap organic wheat im gonna order and try. Hopefully the turnout will be different
Maybe I could make scletoria with this non-fruiting wheat. Would be sad to let it go to waste.

From what I have heard, grain that has been hit with Fungicides are dyed, so they are not ingested, because fungicides are poisonous. The wheat is not suppose to be harvested right after application so the fungicide dissipates. Unless he did not follow the fungicides instructions that wheat should be fine.. if he even used a fungicide.
Did you use Lysol or any other alcohol cleaner in your process?
If so, this could have mutated your spawn, causing all of these mutants.

Nope I didnt. It's only with this wheat I've had problems but I think I'm going to give it another try, but also get some wheat from another source to keep my bases covered

Reckon around a 100 liters. The straw he got me worked wonders and they should have been given about the same treatment as the grain.
Then again straw being less dense also lets *cides vaporize/metabolize quicker.
If I understood it correct any fungicides or pesticides should dissipate within a few days if well ventilated. Perhaps that's also something I should try

My second attempt so far, The old wheat grew very small fruitbodies looking similar to PE. Also banged up a bunch of jars with new organic wheat I found from a different source. Cased in a small bin with straight verm. So far no fruits and I reckon its gone well over a week now. Tipped one to get excessive water out and grain fell out! My understanding is that the mycelia should keep them together like a cake. I have about 20 quarts of colonized grain I will try also.
Pretty frustrating. Time to get some popcorn

have you tried that isolate on another grain type? you could try a multi-spore on the grain,to see if you get the same problem.in which case you've solved the riddle. or,could just be you isolated bad genes.

I've got some more jars incubating right now with different strain isolates from multispore.
The fruits of the older wheat was from an old clone (~1y) stored in the fridge. But very small and tiny caps

Here are some of the fruits that I recently managed to grow using the older wheat (Burma clone). Twisted but very potent
Organic wheat from a different source wouldn't fruit at all Maybe it'll work in a year or so
