Earths elliptical orbit ...

Why is it always depicted as a circle?
The "uppper boks in the picture that 'that picture' links to; is reading an error, it should be " ... distance A and B, so marginally ... " ... and the other should have had the word either in the context of the moon.
Anyways, pleas read, and then answer both bokses, here.
I would be very happy and content!

Harmony (with respect to the other orbits i.e. no layered trajectories of orbits) and ease of depiction.

My friend just took Astrology so I was asking her about this a couple days ago. I said something along the lines of blabla Earth and elliptical orbit. she was either being a bitch or what and went off on how Earth's was more of a circular orbit or very slightly elliptical. She went on to how Pluto has a clear elliptical orbit.
Elliptical makes more sense and a circle doesn't seem probable because we'd be constant. The elliptical, on the other hand, is like a self-perpetuating orbit. like a sling shot. if this doesn't make sense i'll elaborate more.. anyhow, yeah eliptical makes more sense. if it were circular then I think the seasons would be constant

Because the level of education is so poor here that most folk don't know what elliptical means. Most modern Americans can handle a circle a square and maybe a rectangle. I have a friend here who didn't know that stars were suns further out in space. I know another guy who thinks that falling stars are exactly that. These guys actually hold jobs and have lots of consumer debt.:D

well, i'm wrong... our orbit is nearly a perfect circle. of course nothing is perfect but a circle is more accurate than an elliptical.
this explains more

well I was thinking about how NASA uses planets to sling satellites into orbits. My calculus prof was discussing how NASA will launch a satellite at a planet like Jupiter in what would appear to be an elliptical fashion and as the satellite's orbit was the closest, its velocity would increase due to the planet's gravity and sling shot/shoot it out to where NASA desires this satellite to go. In turn, with calculus NASA saves fuel/money and is more efficient. Another comparison that could exemplify this a bit is a figure skater that's holding onto a rock and as this skater brings their arms in, speed heightens and then releases the rock.
Pluto is on an elliptical orbit around the sun. Or at least a greater elliptical orbit than that of Earth.

Hum.... Thanks!
Now I am getting somewhere..
Could you elaborate?
I know it takes one day for the earth to spin around its axis.. A know the moon takes one ellipse round the earth, each month?
Actually I do know know shit about this...
It 'alludes' me.. How can I make it be so hard to grasp?

I'm lost but, since earth is tilted ~23 degrees on its axis... Summer is the experience of being physically closer to the sun. Tilted towards the sun, depending on where you are located not IMO, because we are actually closer due to an elliptical orbit.
