Oysters?

Here is a Quart of Phoenix Oysters on Wild Bird Seed that I spawned to Coir/Coffee. Then I cased it with 70/30 Vermiculite to Coir with some crushed Oyster Shells. This is my first ever "Flush" of any kind. Here is the thing. The little guys don't look like I think they should look.... like they don't exactly have that Oyster look I expected. Is it because I'm growing them in a tray instead of a bag? Or is it more because of bad FAE maybe? I have read Oysters require lots of fresh air exchange. RH is 95% and temp is 75F. 12 hour light cycles. This is what I use for my fruiting chamber.

I have one pipe from this guy going in there.
It goes into one of these.

Here are the pics of the little guys.

Oh yeah and what is this weird funky clumpy thing in the center of this shot? Any idea? It looks poreous. I think I'm growing a sponge

No. I wasn't joking. I really ordered Oyster Mushrooms. For those whom followed my grow log I quit the cube game. I think I may have received a mislabeled syringe. I just don't understand how. Cubes come as spores. Edibles come as culture slurry syringes. I'll chuck them if they don't get more Oyster like upon maturity.
I'll be sending a strongly worded letter to the vendor from whom I received this culture if by the time they mature they do not turn out to be Oysters. I will not say from whom I received them. Everyone is entitled to make a mistake. Though this one seems .... bizarre. I'm thinking possibly these are some other edible culture that just got mislabeled.
I'm so confused. The mycileum was so different. It was thin and stringy not ropey-rhizomorphic like cubes. The colonization time was so much longer in the bulk substrate and it clearly wasn't a big fan of the coir like cubes.
Sultan Armada I used 1/16th inch plexy glass 2x2 and 2x4 boards. Originally I was only going to use 2x2 boards but it turns out that didn't offer enough structural integrity. So I shored it up with a 2x4 shell. I drilled holes for the fresh air exchange and I cracked the bottom by accident while drilling screws for support beams but it worked out because it let me run wires through the bottom so I could hook up heat bombs during the winter and extra humidifiers inside the chamber. Also I used threaded rods for the racks inside. They were nice because I ran them through the support beams with nuts and washers and use them to further support the frame. I'll be placing plexy glass on those rods for shelves eventually when I start my Shiitake 1/2 pint cakes. For now they work great for letting FAE move throughout the chamber and holding the trays.
Blah I'm going to bed. I'll think on this more when my head is more clear.

interesting.. but your already this far.. why not just fruit them all the way for experience. then dry and store them properly incase someday you change your mind about cubes =P
just a though.. or maybe give them away to good friend.

Thanks for the clarification everyone.
After some consideration it seems to me much more likely I mislabeled some jars than a vendor sending me a cube slurry. Since I didn't document each step of that grow I'm going to chalk this one up to my own errors. I'm guessing some how I mislabeled some cubes as Oysters and then wound up not tossing them out when I tossed out the rest of the cube jars. So I'm going to skip the letter and not make a bigger ass out of myself than I already have. I have to admit I am conflicted about tossing these now that they are fruiting. I'm exhilarated by watching them grow and curious as to the strain. On the other hand I don't want to go back down the road of guilt and paranoia.

Unless you're a police officer and your FC happens to sit on your desk at the department, I think you're okay without the paranoia.

If you have grown cubes before its possible you have enough cube spores in your growing area to contaminate a tray. It is very common to have cubensis overgrow a Panaeolus attempt from residual spores.

Thanks Workman but I don't think that's the case here. The growth is pretty consistent all over the two casings. I think I may have a clue what these are. I think they are mislabeled Ecuador strain. I must have mixed up the jars. I guess I'm back to the cubes again.... These things are like smoking. It's hard to quit. I literally accidentally grew cubes. Now that I know for sure what they are I guess it's on purpose from here on. I just can't bring myself to toss them.
Since I'm going to take these little guys all the way to mature fruits, how big should I expect them to get if they are in fact Ecuadors? I'd say there's about 2.5-3 inches of substrate and 1 inch of casing material if that's even a factor.
Oh yeah and that brings me to another question. What do you do about the mutants? Should I pick them right away? Do they cause problems?

Can't leech nutrients if they're not growing. Not enough to actually consider, anyway.
