i just birthed the cakes and this was on one of the dry vermic. layers. the mycillium has colonized very aggressivly so i think it is mycillium. what do you think?

I think it's overlay. Scratch it with a sterilized fork, it'll be fine! Good looking knots too! It'll be pinning soon.

Wouldn't hurt to lightly scratch the fine stuff. Besides, it IS a casing now, that mycelium's above the dry verm.

I have seen this many times when jars are incubated in high humidity environments.. the mycelium will penetrate the Ramsey seal in search of water... mycelium is so amazing.. *swoon*

My cakes always look like that when I birth them. Its just the mycelium growing through the dry verm barrier. I scrape off the dry layer with the mycelium so that I can sit the cake down on a damp layer of verm.

The reason behind that is the verm. gets wet so the mycellium colonizes it. I've actually only had that happen to me once. No biggie tho.
