Fruiting Chamber Question
    #6977672 - 05/28/07 12:39 PM (16 years, 9 months ago)

I know the perlite method in a tub is good for humidifying cakes. RR's fruiting chamber is brilliant but I wonder if it would support bulk trays. I want to spawn to small tupperware. If I had a 50 gallon tub and 4 or 5 inches of perlite and a few hundred holes, would that support my trays? I want to avoid a greenhouse and a humidifier. I dont want to go monotub either. I want to spawn to more trays so if one gets contaminated i can pull it out. It would also be easier to rotate trays rather then clean the tub in between or make 2. I want this setup to be able to be constantly support fruiting trays in different stages. Is this possible or probable?

Sure, I do it all the time. Have your trays elevated on screens or pieces of pipe so you don't block the perlite. You want the maximum surface area of your perlite exposed to the air.

And you wouldn't really need 4-5" of it. Three inches would sufice, just keep it moist.

using rr's method to make a terriaum i had to make a 1/4 inch hole every inch so provide enough fae to support oysters and other edibles dunno if you will have to make that many holes with cubes.oh and chicken wire works perfect to put between your tupperware and perlite.with some small pvc blocks to lift it up alittle bit.just some suggestions to help you out that i kinda had to search around and see what worked
