When adding a reply to a thread you're expected to do the following, unless your reply is in response to the person above you:
Of course, not everyone does that; people just type their response in and click Continue (as they should--people shouldn't be expected to go through all that effort). That sometimes causes confusion, though, because sometimes the person above you thinks your post is a direct response to them; I think the default - Reply To - should be set to the first post, since most of the posts in a thread aren't to the last person to post.

But then what if I want to reply to the last person? I have to do just as much work.
I don't think I most often reply to the OP, so I'm not voting yes.

Or you could just hit the "reply" link next to the person's name you wish to respond to. What's so hard about that?

yea it makes it a little more of a hassle, i usually just post without changing that unless its a question or theres a ton of posts on the page and im responding to just one person

You have the option between Threaded and Flat. Threaded is what you're using, and Flat is where there's only one post per page

Did you read the whole post? I don't care about the Reply feature--this isn't a thread about using the Reply feature. The current configuration is set so that a post made with the Quick Reply gets labeled as a reply to the last post. The problem with that is that most of the time you're not replying to the last post; most of the time your replying to the first post. But people either don't know about the reply feature or don't want to go through the hassel of selecting the First post every single time they post, so I made a thread/poll* in Website Announcements and Feedback proposing that the Reply is set to the first post as the default.

How fuckin hard is it to change the reply-to or god forbid hit the quote link thats conveniently placed above each post in a thread?

Yeah, and it takes the same amount of work to change it from first post to last post if you wanted. You may reply to the OP more often than the last post, but I doubt you've collected any data to back up that the majority agree (I suppose that's what you're sort of doing with your poll in WAF.)
