The mycelium colonizes seaweed just like straw. The myc seems to love it. I've gone down on the beach and scooped it up, then brought it home to dry.

However, it's no more effective at growing then straw, and if you buy it at at chinese grocery, it's at least 1000 times the price of straw.

Seaweed-kelp is high in triptophans, so that's why I originally tried it in my experiments to see if adding substrate ingredients high in triptophans would have an impact on potency. None did.

that had to stink up the house when you pc'ed or paturized it.

id be careful thow some seaweed is deadly i think and its not a typical thing mushrooms grow on (to my knowledge) so who knows what could happen 1000's of variables that could lead to someone getting sick.

however i tend to over anylize things sometimes

Too salty. The only extract I ever tried was far too salty to grow anything.
