chill psychedelic or ambient music

Hey guys. Can you recommend me some really chill psychedelic bands to listen to while tripping (and while not) ? I'm talking sort of like in the style of Aegaetis Byrjun by Sigur Ros. I prefer less electronic sort of stuff (Shpongle, Autechre, Hallicinogen, Ozric Tentacles, etc.) and more bands that play real instruments, but really relaxing psychedelic/ambient music that doesn't get as intense as Shpongle type stuff. Pink Floyd is even a bit too structural and not ambient enough.

Recommendations? I'm open to songs too. I can just make a mix CD or something.



P.S. no jam bands (Grateful Dead, Phish, Umphrey's Mcgee, String Cheese, etc. I already listen to them.)

Pink Floyd (up to and including Dark Side of the Moon but stop there) and Aphex Twin (though that's pretty electronic) are my favorites. And of course Grateful Dead Jefferson Airplane, The Doors... guess I like a lot of 60's music.

a band called The Mercury Program. check their tunes on their myspace. They play actual instruments are very ambient and relaxing

I know you said you don't like electronic, but I love Autechre such an unbelievable amount, probably as much or more as many people seem to like sphongle. They feel like pure awesome within my brain.

On a side note, the Album Leaf, Múm, Sigur Ros, etc, are all pretty trippy, ambient-ish type stuff, and all of it has a very "organic" feel.

There's an album called Days of future Passed by the Moody Blues. It's a concept album representing the passage of a day, and is a blend of psychedelic and classical music. Very nice and relaxing to listen to, whether you're tripping, sober or stoned.

Get either the cd called "The land we all believe in" or "Chaiming the Knoblesome"

Really anyone who reads this and eats any hallucinogens has to check these guys out. They are by far THE MOST experimental wierd "band" I've ever heard. They take music to a whole new level and using a million genres at once ( its not jam band music) to put together a painting of weird ass music.

You all owe it to yourself to hear them

You absolutely want to hear Meditation Mass by Yatha Sidhra. Very very chill, very very awesome.

I would also recommend Element 115 by Secret Saucer if you can find it. I would also definitely give pretty much anything by Acid Mothers Temple a shot.

Eloy are very chill, but quite "structured" as you put it. Still, they're awesome.

Also check out the Oresund Space Collective. They've got a huge collection of free mp3s on their website.
