An adventure into the rainforest.
    #6973837 - 05/27/07 02:23 PM (16 years, 8 months ago)

I say we get like 10 people together and travel to a rainforest in the US to build a small commune. We'll live off the land, have fresh water from a local waterfall, river. We'll bring enough food to last us for months, in the meantime growing our own food.

Now wouldn't that be a great spiritual journey?

I'm Down! Who's COMING WITH ME!?

Peace,
Droz

I'm in. Where are there rainforests in the U.S. though?

My body I will give to pleasures,
to diversions that I’ve dreamed of,
to the most daring erotic desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

I can't seem to find a link to any in the US. There are great rivers and waterfalls though.

We'd have to travel to South America most likely. The Amazon!

If your looking for people to drink the Kool-Aid they should be pretty easy to find. The Shroomery should be fertile ground for finding cult followers, but now to find a charismatic leader might be a problem...

The Pacific Northwest is a temperate rainforest, fyi. It's also friggin' beautiful, and already full of hippie wierdos living off the land

We need someone large and imposing of mature age with piercing eyes and with a shamanic background - and who would look good in a cape or robe.

*drums fingers* Now who would that be?

I lean towards Viking decor usually, but I have been wanting to wear devil horns as part of having an important title for some time now.

Are you more likely to aspire towards being Odin, or Thor?

Odin of course...the lord of hosts and the god of death... Living in a house with a resident standing army is a good plus as well. Thor was a bit stupid and I tend towards sneaky craftiness.

Besides, I'm the moderator. I think, however, that this would be the perfect reality show. Take everyone in P&S and put them on a huge, deserted tropical island. Kick back and observe what ensues. It'd be quite the drama. :bongload:

Yes Thor certainly had a lot of misadventures, no doubt due to his association with Loki. :smirk: Yes let's go to some distant halls and dispense with some giants.

Damn near killed that fucking world serpent, too. He was fucking determined, holy shit.

Odin was the shaman. He has quite the aura about himself. Odin is definitely one of the best gods out there.

I would prefer it was an anarchist commune.

Certainly not. I am not a figurehead and would function better as the consigliere, with Markos as the resident Holy Man and Veritas as the High Priestess.

I think Hue and Ice should have a battle for Supreme Leader of our new community. Axe vs. sword. The winner also gets to decide the color of our robes.

anarchist commune? wouldn't that be an oxymoron? If that's how you want it that's cool, just never heard of one before.

For me personally the less rules the better. As long as it's a humid enough place that I can go hunting for pretty little fungi I won't give a shit about the leadership! I'll be the woman that lives in the hut all by herself and talks to all the animals and plants.

How would it be? Anarchism just means lack of hierarchy. In fact, communes are the one place where you can find genuine anarchy.

I'm in.

But I'm slowly going to knock you all off one-by-one under the guise of "he tripped and fell down that canyon" and eventually eat you all.

Yeah, sorry. Whenever I think of anarchy I think of Mad Max or other futuristic movies where everyone's running around killing each other.

The Hoh Rainforest on the Olympic pensula in Washington. Very beautiful and wet but not warm. Not a place I would want to live. I have hiked in it though.

I would have no desire to lead such a motly crue. I doubt this group would work together well. I will go it alone with Veritas and Hue and his family if he wants. Nothing personal. I wish you all the best of luck. :seeya:

Hey mushroomtrip, I'd camp out with you! There would definitely be some interesting conversations! And regardless of us sometimes having differing opinions I'd bet we would be able to work together! But if it's all the same to you, I prefer there not to be any of that funky kool aid!

So most of what i've read that you guys posted has been way off topic. You've hijacked my thread!

If we were going to do this i'd suggest we have a gathering first so we can meet eachother. Then go from there!

I'll bring stuff like seeds, a hatchet, enough clothes to last me a week before i need to wash it down by the river, and plenty of water!

If we were to find a river with fresh water, all we will need are buckets to carry water. We'll need camping supplies, utensils to eat our food. A good hunting knife.

SOAP!

Peace,
Droz

And if you find the perfect spot, it will already be inhabited, so there will likely be some tribal warfare involved. Is it OK to kill to find Paradise?
