In reply to:
Patience and sterile practice is the key to mushrooms, bleach, and the rest of those ideas are just encouraging bad practices for people that dont practice those two things.
That is so correct! Some of the teks you speak of may have benifits yet they should not be an issue in the first place. If need be, I bet they are handy though, even the bleach tek.

want constant filtered air for under 15 bucks? you will need these things
foil tape <---its the shit and its 100% water proof or duck tape or even duct tape alum foil bread pans<---yep the same you use for casings surgical or medical grade masks <----look like doogie houser and shit fist tank air pump<----5 bucks at wally world some type of padding<----if you dont want to hear "brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"
take your bread pan and cut out a hole a about 2inc by 2in tape your surgical mask, doubled up over the hole
now poke a hole in the top of your grow chamber and feed some pump hose through it and then seal air tight with tape. put your padding down then your air pump over it, then the bread pan over that and tape the whole thing down to the top of the chamber.
jorge fills his jar that he feeds the pump line into with 50%h202 and 50%h20 and he bought a clear container so he can look through instead of opening it(he covers it with a towel the rest of the time) dont put any exhaust holes in your set up. im not even sure there is a need for this type of set up but my friend has alot of time on his hands.

In reply to:
if you are doing the pf cake method, air exchange in 1/2 pint jars is unnessesary.
untrue. such jars will most often stall colonizing until the tape is removed.

lol 'bad practices' who the hell are you to judge ? i'm the guy you are mouthing, so step right up and get it on. if you have anything real to say, not just babble about right or wrong. my post on yields was accurate, and my bleach tek works. that's what really matters, not your opinion about it. ========================= sorry to have this shit in your thread , moe. but i hate punks who run their mouth when i'm not around, crying to weak friends who sympathize. walk away.

Yeah, my cat is doing something similar - though he is using filter discs in place of the surgical masks and the padding is a dense-fibrous aquarium air filter material.
The only problem he's noticed is that the perlite dries out faster and needs water added more frequently.
Otherwise, works like a charm!

Really? no exhaust holes, I was always worried about that. But if it works for someone then it's worth a try. josh057
