Small pins
    #696860 - 06/23/02 05:47 PM (21 years, 3 months ago)

Just to make sure....my cake is doing very well (Thal l.Y.)...
but the pins are thin..
Well..there are about 150 pins (woohoo!!!)...but there about 4 that are starting to grow large as in height. They are very thin. So now I just turned the humidity to about 88%, down from 95. Should they be fine now that I turned them down?
Or do I need to incorperate more water.
This is a very nice case with a lot of pins. I dont want to mess up after
coming this far? suggestion? THANKS!!

personnally i would keep the humidity at 95, if u lack moisture then u will get smaller mushrooms.

I would do what you did by lowering the rH a little, but also, shoot for more air exchanges per day.

I definitely need to fan more I think. I guess I was relying on the CoolMist too much.
I have 3 triangle shape holes with filters on them. The reason why they are traingular is because I have those replacable mask filters tape on the outside. Works great. When the humidity was up I could see that there was no condensation around that area, so im assuming air was moving through. I like the coolmist alot. But, yeah, I guess I need to fan more.
Oh....the sides are pulling away on one side. How does one go about fixing this?
I see pins starting to grow down there already. Dont want them to get rotten.

ahh, this is a case, you may want to edit your first post, you called it a cake, if your casing is pulling away at the sides, that most likely means your casing layer is getting too dry, add some more casing to the sides where there is space now, and keep it moist.
