Okay so a few people have asked me about my tub system, a very cheap and effective system for bulk grows. It keeps your casings at perfect moisture levels so your fruits grow large, has plenty od space, and is automatic of course. I just finally got my cam back today so here it is!
So the Tub I use is a 50 gallon Rubbermaid Roughneck Jumbo storage tub. Ypou can find it at Lowes, Home Depot, walmart, etc for under 20 dollars. Then in your own unique creative way find away to attach a hose to your tub which will connect to your cool mist (or if you want to make a multi-tub system to the connector where FAE/humidity is being provided from is).
Then I use a jig saw to cut around the top lid so that only the outer barrier is left that attactches to tub. To cover the lid, I used 2 MIL thick plastic painting sheets. cost about 3 dollars at Lowes/Home Depot in something like 9x12 rolls. The (neatly of course..  ) duck tape it to the lid.
Not much else really to say other than to load up your tub with substrate, case it, and vuala!

Okay so here is my very first flush with this new tub system. Just harvested tonight. Should have another 2-3 flushes left. Used a 4-5 inch substrate, somewhere in the vicinity of around 40 lbs, give or take a few pounds. Used multi-spore inoculation to WBS. Substrate consists of:
Horse Manure
Black Kow Cow Manure
Coco coir
Vermiculite
Cofee Grounds
Blood Meal
Gypsum
Cannola Oil
Cased with:
40% Vermiculite
40% PH adjusted Peat Moss
10% Coco Coir
10% Perlite
and lots of oyster shell flour...

It's a sea of Shrooms! I know I let the caps open. I dont mind the spores, I like large caps.
When I began to harvest, I had to go get another bin to put them on cause they were stacking up in mountains in the brown one!
Here is the final crop. I laid them out on black construction bags so I can start cleaning them tonight before I dry. I may be full of shit, but I certainly don't eat it..

I put a lighter inbetween the forest of shrooms for size comparison. The majority came out pretty damn big for a multi spore inoculation.
Super Shroom!  This was the largest one, nice descent size.

How big of a cool mist humidifier did you use, because i see you have it hooked to pvc pipe hows that system of yours work??
Oh yeh and do you have your humidifier on all day or intervals?

You can hook up the hose right to the coolmist. mine is connected to pvc because the pvc runs to feed another tub. I connected the cool mist hose to the pvc.

I was j/w because it looked like(well with the pvc pipe and all) that you had more than one of those tubs and didnt know if a humidifier of that size would do the trick;)
Anyway do you run the humidifir all day?

Very nice how many tubs do you have hooked to that hose?? lol..
Also how do you get FAE, please explain that part to me, I love this setup.. Might use it instead of greenhouse!

wow. I have 2 of those tubs and thought about it once to turn them into a MT but it takes a lot of sub to fill that sucker..
How much time does it take to load, case, etc for that thing?
I am guessing 2lbs dry total.

I only have two tubs set up, don't really need massive amounts of shrooms. Most of these I will end up giving away to friends and stuff anyways. You know the drill. But im guessing you can hook up as many as you want using this technique. Im sure 1 coolmist will supply FAE to at least 6 tubs.
This is how I rigged the cool mist.
The other pvc coming down is to let out excessive water build up. Have a bag tied to the end of the tub i just empty out every few days.

Actualy theirs atleast 15-20 lbs dry sub. Remember these tubs are 50 gallon capacity. They are huge! Plus my sub is at least 6 inches total with casing and all. As far as time, the usual as long as you stick to the 1:4 spawn ratio.
This harvest i posted was just from one tub BTW, first flush. The other tub is in experimental phase.

I used:
12 Quarts WBS spawn
48 Quarts Substrate
10 Quarts Casing Layer
Substrate colonized in 8 days onced spawned. I added oil and other stuff which aided to colonize faster. Casing took 4 days. Tub pinned in 3 days. They then grew from pin to maturity in another 3 days. All in all they grew pretty dAMN fast.

So, one tube goes from coolmist to tub to keep the humidity up.
What was that about the other tube to reduce excess humidity? how does that work?
Also, what did you do about pinning? just let it pin after casing with patching where needed?

The cool mist is really more for FAE. If you hydrate your substrate properly, the tubs maintain their moisture like you wouldnt imagine. As you can notice on the clear film lid their is condensation all over it (little drops of water).
The other pvc extension is not to let out excess humidity. It is just deelevated downward with a bag attatched at the end to catch all the extra water being realeased by the cool mist. It is basically a drain. Every few days i just empty the water in the bag back into the cool mist.
The reason I use a bag is because if you leave it open FAE escapes. , so tieing a bag with a rubber band creates an air bubble where no air is released and only collects all excess puddles of water.

so where is the exhuast for all the fae the coolmist is pushing? .... does it just escape around the lid? have ever tried a tub that size withouth a coolmist and just used holes with pollyfill?

Im sure it would work without cool mist and only polyfil. But my whole idea with this tub was that since Mushrooms are 90% water, and FAE seems to be one of the main factors in determining the size of the mushroom (that is considering your sub depth is optimal, genetics are good, etc) then I would present as much of both as possible.
The tub is really really humid inside, little droplets of water all over the FC. And I never have to mist (only casing beforehand for pinset purposes). I let the air escape through two small holes the tub has at each side by the handle where you grab it.
