Hello, East Texas is a nice humid environment and I found three specimens yesterday that may very well be the same species. Thank you in advance for your help identifying these.
Specimen 1
 Specimen 1
 Specimen 1
Stem: 7.5cm long, 2cm wide, bruising is black to deep purple
Cap: 11 cm diameter, Golden Brown at the center of the cap. It slowly lightens in color but never reaches a complete white color. The edges of the cap turn dark purple just like the gills, The very center of the cap is scaly like reptile skin but becomes smooth as you move toward the edges
Gills: Black to deep purple
Spore print color: A dark black to purple color
Bruising: Black to deep purple
Location: Picked in East Texas in pasture land. Not found on a pile of dung but animal dung is all over the pasture.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Specimen 2
Specimen 2 Please disregard the broken cap in the middle

Looks like you've got some Agaricus species there. The spore print should be more of a dark, chocolately brown. There are some good edible species in the genus, and a few that will cause mild poisoning. Most of the poisonous ones have a terrible, chemical-like smell. They also tend to bruise yellow. To check for bruising in an Agaricus, slice the stem down the middle, and then scrape the inside of it with a knife or something pretty hard. Bruising will appear over an hour.
Some of the good edible ones bruise a bit reddish or maroon. I suspect that is what you have, probably Agaricus arvensis. You can find more info at mushroomexpert.com
Great pictures and descriptions, welcome to the shroomery.

i agree with xmush on his agaricus ID. Definately not a cubensis, though they can be fooling when hunting.
