This mushroom is in the genus Cortinarius. The identifying feature is the remnants of a cortina on the second one from the left and some of the others. It is colored rusty brown from the spores.
The deadly toxin orellanine has been found in at least 34 Cortinariaceae.

Maybe, but can't be sure. Do you have the spore print yet? Those could be Cortinarius as Alan said. If so, they may be deadly poisonous. However, I'm not convinced they are corts because the veil on the third mushroom from the left looks more substantial that the typical cortina. Also, you said you found them growing on stumps and Cortinarius grow from the ground. But I wouldn't bet your life on it. Furthermore, Gymnopilus species in Australia are NOT psychoactive as some are in the eastern and southern United States. Therefore, it would be very stupid to eat those mushrooms. They are definitely not going to make you trip, and they could be very, very poisonous.

jackadelic said they were growing around stumps, and I being half gymnopilus would bet your talking dog not gyms.

A habitat pic might show them to be Gymnopilus, but until I see one I am sticking with Cortinarius because I don't see any red scales on the cap. Kind of blurry though.
I am afraid to ask if they taste bitter.
Either way, they will not make you trip.
These are not the mushrooms you are looking for.
This had better be a troll...

LOL. Reye ruv roo! Good points coonnopilus. I'm just not 100% convinced they are Cortinarius. But neither am I convinced they are not Cortinarius, so they should definitely not be eaten under any circumstance.

now those are definitely gyms in the last picture.except the gills are yellow to orange, and yours look yellow.
hydroponics:gymnopilus aeruginosus starts its season in May.maybe that's what you saw.on the east coast gymnopilus spectabilis starts about the end of July.
