Hard to tell, not enough info. or pics.
I like Stropharia for this one, in which case the print will be purple/brown.

I think they are Agaricus, but your Stropharia guess might turn out to be right in the end.

A sharp close up photo of the place where the gills attach to the stem would help to narrow down the ID more.

Here ya go:

Those are just the tops.

Where the steam meets the gills.

Also will you tell me if they're safe to eat and if they are magical.

Details such as a spore print are almost essential in id cases like this. I can tell you no they are not "magic" and no they are not safe to eat simply because there has not been a positive Id on them and eatting unidentified mushrooms can easily result in death.

It's impossible to tell from the pic, but can you tell us if the gills are attached to the stem, or do they not quite make it there. Maybe try focusing your camera, learn about the macro function.

The gills are attached to the stem.

The spore print is in process right now also.

If the gills are truly attached, I throw my hat in with the Stropharia gang.

So are the Stropharias magical?

And yes they are.

If so how many should I eat?

No, the Stopharia are not magical.  Furthermore, we have not definitively ID'd this mushroom, so don't even think about eating it.  Fill out the proper info needed for an ID request, and learn how to fucking focus your camera.  :mad2:

Another thing to look for would be either reddish/pink or yellow bruising (signs of Agaricus) when cut down the middle and damaged on the inside flesh. I can't really tell based on the pics or description for sure... it's tricky because on some Agaricus species the gills are barely free.

There is no reason to consider consuming those... even if they could be identified, they arent active - and it seems like that is what you are after.

They are not 'magical'.

Fairies are magical.

If you see fairies dancing around your mushrooms its a good sign they're magical too.

In fact if you see fairies dancing around your mushrooms you probably already know.

Well I did the spore print anyways and it came out either really really dark purple or black.

Based on the spore print color and habitat, those are very probably Stropharias. Given the appearance of the rings I'd make a wild guess of Stropharia rugosoannulata. The cap color is not typical of that species. To verify, you need to look very closely at the upper surface of the ring on s few specimens and see if there are lines that go straight out from the stem to the edge of the ring.

Happy mushrooming!
