Hey everyone. I'm thinking about purchasing the presterilized jars from Micron Magick but whats the point of that filter on top? I know it's to block air borne contam. but wouldn't it be rendered useless after inoculation??

But what about the hole the syringe makes? Is it too small for contam to enter? Thanks.
Also, where can I find more info on the "Creeper" strain? How come no other vendors sell it?

Get the "Creeper" spores from The Little Guy
He's the only one who's got 'em right now (far as I know)
Get your pre-made jars from Spore Haven
They use Ramsey seals. Better than filters IMHO.

In my opinion there's no point to using filters unless you've had problems with your jars before. Twelve jars costs about $8, a bag of BRF costs about $3, and a bag of vermiculite costs about $3. You really don't need anything else except tinfoil to keep water from entering your jars during sterilization, and I leave that on until there's decent growth. The tinfoil and the top vermiculite layer act as a filter to airborne material. Unless you're using millet or some other substrate you should be completely fine.

I agree. A nice 3/4" dry verm layer has always been good enough for me. But thats just me.

The Spore Haven - $45 for (12) full pints. (Ramsey Sealed) < Better deal!
I ordered a case of each of these and I will post a comparison log.
