It's much more complicated, involving steam distillation, professional everclear extractions, AND a combination of others herbs including anise and flavor.

you may find erowid's "wormwood vault" to be helpful. It seems that absinthium may be useful for other purposes than absinthe (tea, smoke, etc).

A small quantity of wormwood instead of hops makes for a nice homebrew beer. It's pretty easy to make.
