What does VERY early pinning look like?
    #6902131 - 05/11/07 01:11 PM (16 years, 8 months ago)

Can anyone help, please? I have searched all over the forums, but haven't found any pictures of the very very early stages of pinninng.

My friend has a bag that has been fully colonized for a while, and has some extra fluffy pieces of mycelium on the surface now. Soon after he noticed those, he noticed very tiny brown spots on the fluffy pieces. He's waited a couple of days but those haven't developed. He's trying to figure out if he's seeing primordia/pins, or not. The bag is pretty wet inside (you can see some water pressed between the substrate and the plastic), so he's wondering if he's just seeing the mycelium try to escape a waterlogged substrate -- that fluffy myc looks a lot like myc trying to escape a waterlogged cake. He would cut some slits in the bag but he does not currently have a properly humid environment to house the bag to keep the internal humidity up.

If you know of any pictures of the very early stages of primordia formation / pinning, please point me to them.

Thanks!

Thanks team!

So is there ever a stage where those tiny fluffy primordia have a tiny brown speck on the top? My friend was thinking those tiny specks would turn into the caps.

The flat surface of the money makes it easy to see. Here's hyphal knots, primordia, pins, and small mushrooms all in one picture.

How long does it usually take for primordia to turn into pins?

Usually takes my casings about 12days till ready for pickin after introduction fruiting conditions, about 8days in casing is covered with pins and dosent take long till they big fruits after that.

If conditions are at or near optimal.
Not long. As in a day, if all goes well.

We can all relate to the "what does a hyphal knot, primordia, early pin look like" question.

I remember the hours I thumbed through galleries. I know you will have doubts regardless of what anyone says, but in a couple of days you will wake up and find fat little pins everywhere...

good memories...
