Laminar Flow hood... non-handy person building it himself?

I really want a laminar flow hood. A reputable non-sponsor site has small ones that come pre-assembled for about $540. I know I could build one myself, but I am pretty intimidated by all of the calculations necessary and the assembly. I am capable of using tools and don't mind following directions, but I have a really bad track record being able to hand precise measurements and building things to precision specifications. My model airplanes always turn out kinda janky.
Should I try to build it myself? Would buying a $540 flow hood be as silly as spending almost two hundred on one of those mycodomes or similar products?

PM sent.
Gloveboxes are annoying, I'm finding.
If someone wants to do agar work, aren't flow hoods vastly superior in effectiveness?
I would also love to hear any opinions about how easy/difficult it actually is to build one of these things.

It's not hard, if you have the right tools, room to build it and a good body.Make sure you use a REAL hepa.
Its really youre skills that matter. If you can't master the rules, then you are doomed from the start.
