Put them in a spot in the woods thats shady all the time. Like at the base of a small tree or bush....then hope it rains.

Moe Howard wrote- "okay. look, go to the $1 store or if you have one, get one of those mini gardening hand shovels and toss it in a back pack. Take all your cakes and toss them in a paper bag from the grocery store and toss them in the back pack. Stuff a bunch of hay in the back pack too. Get some bottles of spring water and put them in the pack. NOW go find a nice place at a park or in a wooded area. Dig a hole in the ground about 6-12 in deep. dig it as wide as you need it. Take your cakes and place them in the pit. Put 1/2 the hay in the paper bag that the cakes were just in and dump the water in behind it. Mash the hay around and get it all wet in the bag. Dump wet hay on the cakes and pack it in a bit. tear up the paper bag and sprinkle it over the wet hay. Place the rest of the dry hay over the wet hay and bag chips. Sprinkle some of the dirt you shoveled over your spot and cover with sticks and leaves. nature does the rest so you dont have to baby sit and worry about rain and storms and shit like that.
What you just did was create a mother nature terrarium. the layers of wet and dry hay create a humid/gas exchange out door terrearium. the mycelium will eventually consume the hay and establish itsself in the ground. To help things over time, take cow manure and put it into a paper bag. take the paper bag and stuff it in your back pack. hike up to the park and dump the manure over your spot that is now established. You just fed your shrooms cause when it rains, the shit juice will wash into the ground and make your network happy. "
Nice moe but as a newbie doorknob i got just some questions to help me make sure i do the best in the MOE tek.. couple of questions ... Is there a time frame in to which i have to burry the cakes after last flush ?? could i grow in the winter save the cakes and when summer comes plant them ... Can i be greedy and do the cranberry tek after my last flush and before i plant them in the ground ??
Does the poo have to be sterlized... Would it be better using dry patty's are fresh ones ........?? thanks for the help moe

oooh moe that sounds good...i have a myco enviro bag from sporeworks about done colonizing..it will be one cake. lets say if i wanted to do ur outdoor tech would i have to break up the cake, is 1 enough? i have 7ccs of spores left too so could i do anything with that out there? some advice would be great..i would love this method to get my shrooms cuz the room in the bag is limited. would there be a danger of critters eating the mushrooms? if i only harvested a few mushrooms and let the others mature and drop spores, would it go on for a long time? i'm going out now to find a good spot!!!!!

hello again... im letting my bag flush through once, then harvest and stick the cake outside -- i plan on digging 1.5 - 2" deep, 1 sq. ft. hole with the cake in the center, add the 1/2 bag of spring water moist hay (will get hay from farm near my house) then ripping up the bag, adding that to the top and then the rest of the dry hay, then the leaves/compost/dirt to the top of that. i can also get plenty of cow manure from the farm, how much should be used for one cake, when's a good time to add it. when is a good time, and to which layer should the mazatapec spores i have be added to, if any? will biosafe pesticide take care of slugs and pill bugs, i've read a good deal of outdoor grow posts tonite and found those bugs are the popular annoyances.

I haven't got much of a back yard, all concrete. So say if I had a big pot in my back yard, could I do the same sort of thing.
I can't wait to move to a house with a decent garden..... mmm.... shrooms and all my favourite (and legal) plants.... mmmm

what you should try is setting up a greenhouse....look at this:
pr.'s outdoors
similair to what i plan on doing in my backyard =] just stick a big tupeprware thingamajigger over the top of your grow to maintain humidity and filter sunlight i guess.... just put some soil on the cement, hope that helps.
