I've been doing some research on some keepers creepers. I had a good first flush and the second flush is about ready and looking very nice. There is only one possible problem, on the biggest shroom the cap is much darker than on the rest that I've had, actually it's black. It doesen't look like fungus but I'm not sure. Is this a sign of contamination or does this happen sometimes?

A black headed shroom is usually an abort. How tall is it?

this sucker is about six inches tall. The vale has already broke. It is fully mature and ready to harvest but its top is black.

It was always a little darker than the rest. I think it must be from being overly mature. It was ready to harvest before the rest but I left it alone to wait for the others to catch up and it just kept getting darker. I'll have to give that one to a friend of mine just in case though :-)

Your cap sounds as if it is sporulated. The spores tend to be attracted to the cap surface sometimes, this usually becomes predominant in older specimens.
