drying problem

I am harvesting slowly and drying my mushrooms like a few people on this forum suggested, but I am running into strange problems. I fan dried my mushrooms for approx. 24 hours until all of them looked mostly dry, and then put them in a chamber filled with Damp Rid. It has been 3 days in the chamber with Damp RId, and I can see no noticable changes, except that the Damp Rid is smelling awful. I built the same chamber they have in mmgg with space on the bottom for water to collect, etc... I don't think this is a question of time, although I can be rather impatient =) but 3 days after a fan is too long without any noticable change.
Discription of mushrooms in present state:
The mushrooms caps are rock hard, with soft skinny stems near the cap, and semi-rockhard thick stems at the bottom. I just want them to be 100% dry b/c I need to calculate doasge exactly.
Are they dry enough??

i think the mmgg says to have them completely dry, you need to leave them on there at least a week. just wait til the whole things are rock hard if you wanna save them for a while.

You have too many shrooms in the chamber for the amount of damp rid in there. If you have enough damp rid then the shrooms will be cracker dry in a day or two after fanning every time. And it will not smell either. When you have a bad smell coming from your dessicant chamber it means you are trying to dry too many at one time. Put more damp rid in there and spread it out to a depth of about an inch. This will solve your problem.
