To me the B+ strain looks great. I love the colour! Plus they grow big. Hope you enjoy those.

Hey dude, I have my first B+ PF cake pinning, looks like we are at the same stage! The best thing about this is it's my first pins, I find myself looking at them ever few hours seeing if they grew!
Anyways, how long till they turn into big mushies? I think I read somewhere 3-5 days? Correct?
I have 10 other pf cakes that are waiting in there jars to pin.. then I have another 18 pints of birdseed that I have no idea what to do with. Perhaps I will just plop em in some big ass pans and case with coir, I don't know 18 pints is alot but I find they are so easy and fast. Prepare a few jars, then innoculate with grain to grain transfers.
The bad thing is I have to go away for 10 days, in 8 days.. so they will be pinning and I won't be able to care for them.. it's going to DRIVE ME CRAZY! But what can you do huh?
Anyways, sorry to shit on your thread, I'm just a little excited.. heh heh. Bueatiful pins, and be sure to enjoy these magical fruit to there full potential, I sure know that I will!

"You said you have 18 jars, and you said they are so easy. All I have tried is the Brown Rice Flour and Vermiculite. Fill me in on the grain, so I can try it. "What kind of grain do I use?"
I'm using birdseed; people say they have had difficulties with it, not me.
"How do you prepare it, and then what? Fill me in on what the process is."
Don't follow this seriously perhaps just as a guideline, if you search for suntzu(sp?) post he wrote up a terrific birdseed tek. Basically what I did, was get some boiling water, soak the birdseed in the boiling water for a few minutes, then the drain the water from the birdseed, then rinse the birdseed several times under the tap to get all the crap off of the seed. I then loaded the pint jars up about half way, then added water to about half the way up the birdseed(1/4 of the jar aprox, it depends on the birdseed which is what makes it tricky) After that I put the lid on(With either polyfil or tyvek) put tinfoil over the lid, then pressure cook. I've never had problems with shaking the jars, although lots have. Some say to shake it right after the pc loses its pressure.. I'm sure you will have to experiment a little bit. After that, you can inoculate a jar or two with a spore syringe, drop in a few spores, or take a spoonful of another full colonized cake and drop it into the birdseed under sterile conditions. After the birdseed jar is colonized, take a spoonful of birdseed and drop it into another birdseed jar.. And so on. I did this in a glove box which is very easy to make and cheap. I shake the jar to distribute the spore solution/colonized birdseed after I inoculate by whatever means, and I also shake the jars after a few days to distribute the colonizing birdseed to the uncolonized birdseed.
"After the jars are colonized then what, do you do casings or what?" That's what I'm trying to make my mind up at the moment.. You could do roadkills bulk horsepoo tek, you could just plop it into a pan and case with whatever you want (coir, verm, peat moss etc.)
I found it way easier to do this than the regular pf tek, plus it colonizes fully in like a week, and I have yet to get a contaminated jar. I do realize your mileage will vary due to size of pressure cooker, quality of seed, and dozens of other variables.. So beware. Another plus is you don't have to break up the pf cake to case; you just shake the sucker then pour it into the bottom of the pan. Heh Heh
Good luck.
